I am going to WDW for over a week in Feb. We (DH and I) are meeting up with some friends while down there. I check in on the 14th. Our friends don't begin checking in until the following day. We are not sure which days DH will be able to attend during our "meet". My plane tix are already purchased and ressies made at POR.

Here is my question: Where should I eat on Valentine's Day??? I very well might be alone on this day. I am fine with that. But I really don't want to be going to a romantic resturant if you know what I mean. But I would love great atmosphere, and maybe try something new. Keep in mind we have a full plate from the 15-22 (including my b-day on the 16th).

I was thinking of CA Grille since DH and I ate there once and loved it! I also don't consider it one of "our" places like Le Cellier or LTT.

I have an AP so any place on property is good for me :)

Thanks in advance for your helpful ideas :teeth:

One thought might be Teppanyaki--that way you wouldn't be all by yourself and many folks find it a fun experience. Or--just pick someplace you've never ever eaten at, Jiko?, Olivias? Whatever you choose, enjoy! :)

What about an Epcot WS place? You could go to Teppanyaki and sit at a table with others and then not feel like you are eating alone...
BTW, my birthday's on the 15th of February! :cool1:

Okay, never mind. Just noticed AFTER I posted that the person right above me suggested the same place for the same reason!! Great minds...

I hadn't thought of Teppanyaki! We have eaten here before and absolutely love the atmosphere!
But I would hate to be stuck at a table of couples ;) No offense :love2:

I was also thinking about partaking in something I know DH would not like to if he were with me. Like maybe Tea at the Grand Floridian...I honestly probably will not be too hungry and finger sandwiches are filling enough for me. I also do not think there would be many couples around.

Sheesh, you would think I was a couples-a-phobic or something! I mean, I enjoy kisses as much as the next person, but when it is your first time alone at Disney AND on V-day...it makes me feel like I may be sad.

Keep the ideas coming please! I will brainstorm right along with you all!

ETA: I just thought, what about Coral Reef? I heart the ocean and would be perfectly ok starring at a wall of fishies during dinner. Is this a good place to eat at??? Keep in mind I LOVE seafood!

Oh, and happy pre-birthday to a fellow Aquarian ;)

Argh, hate to do this but I need to bump to get more ideas :rolleyes1

Jiko has a counter along the open kitchen where you can sit and observe the chefs and occasionally chat.

If I were going to be alone, I think I would snack my way around WS & spend time browsing in the shops. Hey, there's noone there to notice if you have a pastry in France, then have another in Norway. :p

Believe I'd go to California grill and sit at the open kitchen area. The cooking place counter at Jiko would be a second choice.
Coral Reef is a nice spot too--.

My suggestions would be
Tony's at MK(make ADR) 30-40 minutes before parade...and sit outside and watch a parade.
Plaza Rest at MK ...very small, so not as stressful or crowded.
or a Character Meal like 1900 Park fare, Beirgarten or Cape May Buffet. Buffets will keep you busy gettin a meal, and at a character or show helps entertain you if you do end up dining alone.
If you want a really nice place...do Fultons and bring a book or postcards to write

Hey! If I was going to pick somewhere to eat where dh may or may not go with me, I'd probably pick Biergarten. They would probably place you either with a family of 3 or other single diners if you were to show up alone. There is a show, that is audience inclusive. It's also a great social atmosphere.

If the menu of Biergarten doesn't suit you, Ohana's is excellent. The shrimp at Ohana's is that huge shrimp like on the Disney Cruise. We ate there last Saturday and I'd go back in a heart beat. You could dine early and request a seat by the window. I had a perfect view of the castle and train station from where I sat. Also there is plenty of activity to keep you occupied there. Children play coconut races, limbo, parades, etc.

We've eaten at the Living Seas. We were right up at the window. We had stuffed lobster. The seafood portions were small in my opinion and the lobster at Red Lobster was better than theirs, in my opinion.

Have you ever tried the New England Clam Bake at the Beach Club? We have always enjoyed eating there. In fact, that's where we went for Christmas dinner last year. The food was great and plentiful. For an extra fee, you can get either Lobster or crab legs added. We didn't do that, since there was plenty of food I enjoyed from their buffet.
