I love to hear from the people that think there is nothing for adults to do at WDW, or adults won't enjoy it without children. DH and I don't have children and people are so shocked to hear that we got so often.

I have taken my cousin's children and while I love doing that, I do love going just the 2 of us.

5 biggest Disney Lies I've Heard:

1. You can use an extra day on your ticket to park hop.
2. AAA Parking Pass = Free Parking
3. I don't need to make ADRs, I'll just decide where to eat when I get there.
   [*]The Swan and Dolphin are Disney hotels.
4. Fastpass is only for guests staying in a Disney Resort.

I'll forgive people #4. They are on WDW property, using WDW transportation and you can book them through WDW just like the other Disney hotels. If it walks like a duck and talks like a duck (all due respect to Donald...) then it really seems like a duck!

On that one, I think it depends on the adults you're talking about. Adults who love Disney will have a blast, adults that are "meh" about Disney may not enjoy it that much without kids.

On our first trip, I hadn't done much homework. I did get one guide book and the planning videos, but I didn't know there was so much more info. I believe I found this website just a few weeks before and read on here quite a bit, I still didn't know all I needed to know, until we went, but as soon as we got home we decided we had to plan for another trip, because we knew we had only seen a small portion of what was offered.

During that 18 month wait, I read every guide book I could get my hands on and I read here almost daily and boy what a difference it made, even though we really enjoyed our first trip, the second was much longer and we got to see so much more.

We have made 15 trips in the last almost 6 years and we still haven't seen and done everything we want to, that is why we still keep going back.

I have a friend taking her kids for the first time (girl age 7 and boy age 12). She said she read if you get 1 day park hoppers you can get everything important done in 1 day. I tried to tell her about all the fun stuff and we do 7 or 8 days in the parks each trip, her reply was I think I will be fine I went once as a child and it wasnt that great.

She is probably at a minimum close in age to me. They only had 1 theme park until 1982. And admittedly, as a kid, EPCOT struck me as very boring. But now, they actually do gear it towards kids.

Should be interesting.

A friend tried to convince me that Shades of Green was the only hotel/resort on Disney property. I gave it my best shot to explain, since I had been to WDW twice at that point. But to no avail, she was adamant that it was the only one inside the gates of Disney; oh and she added a one up on me that it was run by Disney!
She also had a ton of other misinformation. Corrected me that it was still MGM not Disney Studios, Rock N Roll coaster is at Universal, there is no drop on Splash Mtn, oh and Sleeping Beauty's castle is in Orlando not California. It was a very frustrating conversation. Hope she learned better on her first trip a year later.

What about people who think they can go to Universal as one of their park days? I hear this a lot. They are owned by different companies people!!!

I heard a lady ask at the Epcot monorail station which train goes to Universal.

I took a survey put out by Universal, after our trip (visited both WDW and Universal and was doing LOTS of surveys after!), that spent quite a bit of time on "do you know that they are two separate companies and themeparks, and do you know that tickets don't work at the other?"

It was kinda painful to take that survey, knowing that they were asking it because there are probably so dang many people who do not know...

I think she is talking about the Lego Store in DTD, there was a McD's right by it but it is some other food place now.

Ah, that does make sense.

My biggest pet peeve is people who call the Magic Kingdom "Disney" as in,

"We spent the whole day at Disney on Thursday & Friday and then went to Epcot on Saturday"

It drives me crazy!!!!

My brother went to high school in Miami and did Grad Night at WDW...and he now lives in San Diego, and always calls Disneyland "Magic Kingdom".

To me, it's about being accurate. Some people want to be exact, others don't mind sliding a bit.

I had this conversation once:

Friend: Oh, we are staying at a Disney Resort, we are just going to walk to the parks.

Me: Oh, you must be staying at the Contemporary. You can walk to Magic Kingdom from there. Or are you staying at the Beach Club/Yatch Club? You can walk to Epcot or Disney Studios. I think Disney Studios is a long walk from there.

Friend: Oh the Beach one. And you can walk to ALL the parks from there.

5 days and 5 parks(one waterpark) and didn't really miss anything. How was the Festival of lions King?" Oh we didnt do that", did you see Nemo and Friends?" oh we didn't do that" the list went on and on......

Actually, years ago I did that!

I did miss a lot in Epcot as the parks closed at 2pm because of a hurricane. But really for a first trip we did see a lot of WDW in those 5 days. I think the hurricane helped us out a lot along with great planning from the Dis!

I can see this one actually at least for me. I go to WDW once a year and I love it, but I can honestly say that our trip to a 4 star resort in Maui was cheaper then any of our WDW trips. My last DL trip was a little cheaper then Maui, but not by much.

We are going over Spring Break to Hawaii, staying Oceanfront in a 5 star hotel, Club level, for less than a standard view non-club room at a Disney deluxe hotel. And we don't need to buy park tickets.

Well, I guess then that they were right after all

We have never budget a vacation to Hawaii with less $ than for Disney, but them again we have only been there once (Hawaii)

We stayed on property for the first time in 2008. We hadn't been to Disney in 10 years and stayed off property every other trip. We ran into a friend about a month before we left who had been to Disney a few weeks prior. Thank goodness..........he gave us so much information and tips that we used each and every day of our trip.

The bad part....my dad's TA who booked the trip was a huge source of mis-information. She had so much wrong that it was just laughable. She did suggest that if we wanted to do a character breakfast that we should get a reservation for that, however, any other meal should be no problem. Yeah, we had great fun as a party of 10 trying to walk up to TS restaurants. The third day, dh and I took over and started trying to get a dinner reservation each morning instead of using my dad's way of just hoping a table of 10 would be available exactly when he decided he was hungry.

The TA also told us that we could check in and check baggage right at the hotel. Well......that is true if you are flying certain airlines........not the one she booked us with. She also was misinformed about many little things and each and every one of those things made my dad mad at Disney. I finally told him that I thought his TA might have given him bad info...he didn't want to believe that. Unbelievably, he booked our next two trips through her as well, but we booked our own meals and such.

This year, only my family went. I ended up getting better prices at the resort doing it myself and I know more about Disney than Dad's TA. Kinda makes ya wonder.........

It irks me that people say that toddlers wont remember going to Disney! Our first trip was last year when DD was 1. She STILL remebers going! In December she saw a commercial for WDW and looked at me and smiled "MOMMY! Go Back DISNEY WORLD!"

I still think it's a laugh that my mom think's that her way of doing Disney is better then mine. We get to stay in the parks later, dont have to worry about driving back and forth to a hotel (I LOVE LOVE LOVE the transportation at Disney), dont have to worry about having money for our meals (DDP!)

She went to Disney without ANY ADR's and tried to get a table at Rose and Crown to eat But I'm the nutball because I plan out over 5 months in advance for places to eat when I go.

The year "brother bear" came out the bear Coda(?SP) was doing a meet and greet and a mom brought her kids right up to him and said "Hey kids, it the Berenstien BEars". My husband and I were cracking up.

The absolute worst advice I've heard was a family who were going Christmas-New Year's week because they were told that no one vacations during that time.

I swear I tried my best to talk the mother out of it and explain about the Disney calendar, but there was no convincing her.

Funny, she never mentioned their trip to me at all after they came back. Think she was scared I'd say "I told you so." ??

Maybe we know the same family! When they told me they booked at that time because they figured no one would be there over Christmas, I gave them the Unofficial Guide and said good luck.
They didn't really talk about the trip after they got back, other than to say their child could go back when she was grown and on her own. This was their one and only trip.

My MIL says she will never go to Disney because she hates roller coasters. Ummm... There are only, what, 4 coasters total and 30 somethig square miles. This is not six flags! I'm sure you will find something to do. We took her 2 daughters with us last time because I thought it was a shame they had never been at ages 16 and 20! They still talk about it and want to go back with us next time. When my DH and I have kids we will take my in laws along to show them it's worth it.

I want one and I am willing to pay the 50 bucks to get it!

I can remember on our last trip...YEARS ago going to the fastpass machine and hearing other guests say, "How much did she pay for that?" or "Must be a resort guest." I just turned and grinned at them and walked on.

We had a similar experience in Philharmagic. After the woman spent the first half of the movie telling her kids to put their glasses on - when Flounder showed up she said "look it's Nemo!"
