So an old friend from high school is planning a trip to WDW. She was asking on facebook about food and tickets. She believes that Disney will buy back any unused days on your ticket. She also said they were going to eat a lot at McDonald's by legoland on the $1 menu. She also was just going to buy her tickets at AAA so she could get the perks from AAA, like the AAA lounge at the Magic Kingdom. I tried to educate her....but some people just won't listen. What strange things have you heard... (Ok, as I write this, I wonder if maybe I am the one that needs educated, and will really look stupid for writing this, but I think I'm Ok.)

well she'll be very sad when she finds out all that stuff is outdated and incorrect. McD's is gone from WDW #1 and I'm not sure they ever had the $1 menu there anyway and Legoland is in California too so she'll be traveling very far for that $1 menu. ;)

Tell your friend to check out a current planning book for WDW. That would be the nicest thing you could do for her.

How about I've been there once ( 13-15 years ago) why do you need to go back?I saw everything the first time. I just shake my head. Do you ever see everything?

At the very least get her to talk to the travel agent at AAA and get their WDW brochure, which will correct her misconceptions about AAA, the tickets and the AAA lounge which I believe is also no longer there, I could be wrong but I think that's the AAA story experience and you have to book your resort thru AAA to get that.

Yeah, the weird thing is that she did talk to AAA. So not sure if she was talking to someone there that didn't know what they were doing or what. I directed her to some good planning websites. And as for the $1 menu....yeah, like Disney would ever let them have that cheap of a menu on their property!! Even if it was still there! There's only so much you can say, right? People just have to learn on their own, I guess.

I have a friend taking her kids for the first time (girl age 7 and boy age 12). She said she read if you get 1 day park hoppers you can get everything important done in 1 day. I tried to tell her about all the fun stuff and we do 7 or 8 days in the parks each trip, her reply was I think I will be fine I went once as a child and it wasnt that great.

This is just a sad, sad statement...I hope they have fun doing everything important especially since its not that great!

A friend is meeting me at Disney. Her mom and sister are going at the same time. When they were talking to the car rental guy he informed them that you can't bring your own stroller into the parks. You have to rent on of Disney's. :lmao: Her mother believes this guy and will not believe that he doesn't know. Now, this will be my 12th trip and I am a travel agent! How does some schmuck at the rental place in South Carolina know more than me?

Yeah, I did Disney World on my honeymoon. I think maybe we did everything we wanted to do in one day and also spent a day at Cypress Gardens.

Of course, I know there are three other parks now and I've been back a few times to see them. We even went to Universal once.

Our extended family is doing a quick 4 day trip end of June, my SIL will be doing her first WDW stay.. she had a friend tell her that the BEST time to go is after lunch, not exactly the way I would do my first days ever at The World...

Feel bad, our kids will see a ton because we will be at rope drop and their kid will most likely see very little..

This will be my first trip so.....

A friend of mine recently told me that her sister,Sue, is going to Disney a few weeks before our trip. I know Sue but not that well. Sue is going to get fast passes, and Sue and sister believe that they can be used multiple times for up to two months. So she will use them during her whole trip, and then give them to me for our trip a few weeks later.

Now, obviously, I haven't been there, but it is my understanding that a FP is a one time thing....

Dang those three other parks! Makes it so much harder to do everything in one day!

5 days and 5 parks(one waterpark) and didn't really miss anything. How was the Festival of lions King?" Oh we didnt do that", did you see Nemo and Friends?" oh we didn't do that" the list went on and on......

Wow. 1 day? Park hoppers? All those parks? I don't think so...

OMG, I remember our budget trip in 06. I had tickets for 4 or 5 days at Universal for the price of 1 and can hop both parks.

We wanted to see a few favorite things at Disney...so I pinched pennies and got a one day hopper.
Got up early did Animal Kingdom, rode over to Epcot and met the adult kids doing Epcot wine and cheese, then after supper and stayed for the late hours went at the Kingdom.

DD was really the one upset about not just getting a 2 day pass...but it was impossible. But now I realize, we could have done without something....
It was the last trip dd would have....:littleangel:

Now I will stop and smell the roses and take life a little slower.

On the other mentions, I knew that the Mickey D's at DTD was closing, did the one by the Value Sports also?

And all the Lego people and serpent, etc are they gone. What is new to that area? I always loved the Earl of Sand-which in that section.

My one thing I hear is, but they are too young and will not remember the trip!
ERGH. Half our fun was when dd was a toddler and Grandson having a blast with the characters. some great loving moments and and memories created. Even dd loves to see the connection that she and Mickey had....

I bet this information is from DL not WDW. There is a McD's across the street from DLR but there is a very limited "value" menu and it's not a dollar menu at all. DCA had a McD's inside but no, nothing was ever $1 on that menu either. LOL And Legoland......wouldn't be close enough to go to McD's for a meal anyway. lol :)

I am willing to bet she heard this information regarding DLR as well, people say that all the time on the DL section of the boards.....we argue with that information all the time. :) And anyone who thinks "it isn't that great" just has no idea. :)

Sue and your friend are 100% incorrect. When you use the FP the CM at the critical point of the line will take the FPs from them. :) If they have any FPs left they will be expired, they are only good the day you get them, after the return time on the ticket. :)

:rotfl:

I heard that from my friend constantly while we were planning our 11 night, first trip. She was there many years ago, for two days and did everything.

She also told me to make sure I bought the passes so you we don't have to wait in line. Told her she was mixing up with another park. No, disneyworld - she was there and did everything, remember?!?!?! :lmao:

If she isn't thinking of Anaheim, she's living in the future, nearly a year in the future, when Legoland is open in Orlando...

I think she is talking about the Lego Store in DTD, there was a McD's right by it but it is some other food place now.

My best blunder heard was "Oh, we're not going to the park with the castle, that is just for kids."
