Worst place you've seen a cell phone used? (Inspired by Snoopy's yuppie toy thread)

Where's the worst (most inappropriate or annoying) place you've seen a cell phone used? When I worked at a major East Coast university, we had M.B.A. graduates on the phone in the processional line at the graduation ceremony!

One of my sister's goofy friends got a call on her cell phone right as my sister and her husband were exchanging wedding vows. The priest shot her a look that would kill, yet she carried on the conversation as if she was sitting in her living room.

I can't imagine anybody ruder than that!!

I remember asking this very same question and the responses we got were PHENOMENAL! The funeral ones were the ones that got me.... :earseek:

My son came home from 2nd grade one time and told me that the parent who came to read got a call and just answered it and carried on a trivial conversation right there in front of the kids! The reader sits on a rocking chair and the kids sit in a circle around them so I can only imagine what kind of looks they had on their faces!

In a portapotty :p We were waiting in line for a concert and this guy pulls up, gets out of his car with a cellphone in hand (talking to someone) and a newspaper and walks right on into the portapotty-lol

According to my Psych professor (this semester) she had a student pick up his cell phone during an exam and make a phone call. My Anthropology and Archaeology professor (I'm taking four classes this semester, but I only have two professors) says that even if we're waiting for news that someone has died, she doesn't want us having our cell phones on in class because "they'll still be dead when you get out of class"...a little harsh but I guess I can see her point.

In a public restroom while they were in the stall next to me. Phone rang and they answered it and chatted away while apparently "doing their business" That was just too off the wall for me!

LOL! These "potty calls" are killing me! Some yo-yo in the audience at my daughter's piano competition took a call right in the middle of it. Duh, I think that's why it says right in the program "Please turn off cell phones and pagers". Some people are so rude.

I'd have to say a public restroom as well. What did people do before cellphones?

What irks me is that it's just idle chit-chat! It's not a call from a teacher or doctor passing on important info...just idle "whatchya doing" "where are you right now" kind of conversation!

Someone should have taken it from her and thrown it against the wall!!!

I can't believe the nerve of some people. It's bad enough when it's in the movies or a restaurant. If it had been my wedding I would have asked the person to leave and not come back.

The ladies powderoom at a restaurant in Mailbu of all places!
Amazing!

Definitely in CHURCH!

In a bookstore. I was in there with my DD3. I have taught my kids that bookstores are like libraries and you should be quiet in them. Well, this one lady just went on & on with idle chit-chat totally oblivious to the rest of us. (We were in the kids room) Then ANOTHER ladies cell phone rang so I had rude talkers in stereo! That was the last straw so I left and went next door to the supermarket. As I was checking out the meat section, the lady next to me got a cell phone call..ARGH!!!! Why do people think they are so important that they need to take these calls???? I just don't get it.

Jill

I do have a cell phone but it is never on. I only make calls, not receive them.

In the bathroom at school. I don't mind if people talk on the phone while they do their thing, but I do mind if they talk on the phone while I do MY thing!  :o :o Geeze!!!!!

My FIL's funeral. At least they had the good sense to be extremely embarassed and apologetic. He said he just got the thing and never gets calls so he didn't even think of it. It was just really bad timing.

I ASOLUTELY HATE the "new" cell phone accessory that they have out where you have a plug that you put in your ear, and you can babble "Hands Free!"  I have answered many a Customer at my store, thinking they were talking to me, and it turned out, they were talking to someone on the Cell Phone! Now, I ignore ANYONE that is talking!

Just a few weeks ago at my great uncle's funeral mass a woman's phone rang during the eulogy. She answered the call, but got up to walk to the back of the church, so she was doubly disruptive. The worst part is that she didn't leave the church, she stood in the back and talked. It was a very old church and the sound really carried. Everyone could hear her conversation and you could see how uncomfortable everyone was.

Also, my sister's phone rang as they were carrying the casket from the hearse into the vestibule. Everyone was totally silent at that point. She tried to turn it off quickly, but we all caught a couple of verses of "Come Theodora, don't spit on the floor-a" or whatever that stupid song is (that's the tune her cell phone plays). After that, I couldn't stop laughing (but that's another thread!)

A few weeks ago a girlfriend and I where shopping at the mall.
I stopped to use the restroom and it turns out the woman in the stall next to me was on the phone with her friend, who was waiting outside the bathroom with their packages.
I know this because she was standing right next to my friend.

Ok, in Disney World of all places....

There was this guy who had assembled a huge family group, maybe 20-25 people in a group shot....

Some goofball, in the back row, was talking on his phone... during a family moment...

I can imagine looking at the family photos twenty years from now, and wondering what conversation was THAT important that you couldn't take a family photo WITHOUT your phone in your ear.....
