What's the worst fashion trend or fad you took part in?

Bonus points for pictures!

No pictures, but I will plead to being guilty of:

Big hair, with hair spray, hair spray and more hair spray. Sorry about the ozone and all...

shoulder pads. I could have been a linebacker... :lmao:

Legwarmers

hoop earrings you could fit a ball through

lace "gloves" (thanks Madonna)

Acid wash jeans and jacket

I can't take the blame for these next ones, since I was little back then--it was all my mom:
bell bottom pants
bright blue polyester dresses

No pictures here either, thank God back then you had to actually pay to get film developed or the photographic evidence would be horrible for us! :lmao:

But, I did own several pairs of parachute pants, and did spend an hour teasing my hair in the mornings... :cool2:

2nd the acid-washed denim

Two-tone jeans, the ones that were dark denim in the front and faded denim in the back

Poodle-permed mullet (1985-86)

Spandex of the 80's along with very mini skirts and bandeau tops :confused3. How my parents let me out of the house like that I have no idea. And to top it off was big big hair:eek:

The pastel polo shirt with the upturned collar (sometimes more than one!) under the contrasting pastel oxford shirt. Topped with yet another contrasting pastel sweater over the shoulders. And the acid wash jeans (or Chinos).

Yes. Confess to the "preppy look." Bonus points if there was a reptile on the polo and/or oxford shirt.

Not this bad (and female):

I am guilty of participating in the following fads:

Overalls with one strap unhooked.:rotfl2:

The 'let's get physical ' head bands, and leg warmers.:rotfl2:

Perming my thick, straight hair. File this one under fool things I have done to myself. :rotfl2:

Wearing white stockings with dresses...OMG beyond ugly.:rotfl2:

Hated shoulder pads, I used to cut them out of all my jackets and dresses.
I think that was the only thing I did right in that decade.

Too chicken to post pics. No extra points for me.

Sounds like were are from the same generation. I wore a "banana clip" in my hair with really high, overly-teased bangs. Aquanet hairspray was my brand of choice. Also wore 2 pairs of socks, "slouch socks" and very colourful makeup.

Mini skirts and mini dresses. Not everyone should have followed this trend. Looking at my old pics, I think this means ME!

The wrinkled look

Neon colors

Anyone remember those body suits so you didn't have to worry about your shirt staying tucked in? Back in the 90s when college women wore onesies do school.:lmao:

Allowing my mom to get my hair "professionally" frosted. Made me look like a skunk when if was growing out.:sad2: 1990-I hate you.

When I was 13, I had this pea-green patent leather jacket that I thought was sooooooo cool. I wore it to my first concert (Spice Girls).

Let's see, what else...

So much Delia*s.

Platform shoes

Cornrow twists with butterfly clips

Glitter. Glitter everywhere.

White eyeliner

I also went through a preppy phase, where I wore mostly sweater vests over collared shirts, plaid skirts with knee socks, that sort of thing. (I blame Clueless)

Towards the end of high school was my surfer girl phase. Lots of Roxy, puka shell necklaces, bell bottom jeans, strappy leather sandals.

I actually like the preppy Clueless look so I proudly sported it. Now the grunge look, work boots and flannel. :crazy2: Oh what was I thinking???!!! Oh and with burgundy lipstick. :lmao: Now the platform shoes I thought were stupid, but wore them anyways. I finally got to be as tall as everyone else!

I think I wore all of these at the sane time lol

I will second the parachute pants but just to knock it up a notch I had short hair and wore a braided black and gold band around my head like Pat Benetar. What the heck was I thinking?:rotfl2:

Then in my early 20's I wore those dresses that had the drop waste around your hips. They literally looked like a tent and the fabrics sported designs to match the holiday. I think I just figured out why my then boyfriend dropped me...hmmmm:rolleyes:
