Hi folks, My name is Jim, My family and I have booked a trip from June 22-28. We are staying on site and have bought 5 day park hopper passes for all of us. Today was our 60 day window when we are allowed to first book our fast passes. When I tried to book the rides we wanted to go on in both Epcot and Animal Kingdom, none were available until after 4 in the afternoon. We like to go to the parks early then relax. I am worried that we picked the wrong time to go and that the crowds are going to be crazy. Please help me to feel better as I spent a ton of money on this.

Welcome to the boards!!

The end of June is typical summer crowds. The more you get to July 4th the more crowded it gets.

We go every year in June 12-21st. The later we stay the more crowded it gets.

You can still hit the big rides 1st thing in the AM if you are there before rope drop.

I know a trip is expensive, but hopefully you can make the most of it by planning some early morning rides. It's cooler in the AM and less crowded a great time to tour.

I personally think our trips in Oct are more crowded than our trips in June.

I have had these freak out moments before a trip too, but honestly, all you can do is make the plans you can and just enjoy yourselves. Even when it's busy in the summer, you can get so much done by hitting rope drop. And I would keep trying to get the fastpasses you want. I've got at very busy times of the year and still was able to get fastpasses I wanted by constantly checking. Don't give up hope, Jim. You'll still have a great vacation!

Hi Jim!

I never book fp's for Epcot. We go at park open and get on all the rides we want and then use our hoppers to go to Animal Kingdom in the evening. I just booked a last minute trip today for June 21-25 and did exactly that. Epcot am Animal Kingdom pm and was able to get all the fp's I wanted even FoP. I was worried about it since I am under 60 days but I got FoP for two days, Sunday evening after Epcot and Tuesday evening. There were a lot of morning and afternoon fp's left at Animal Kingdom Tues June 25th. FoP is what dictated what day/time we would go. I hope it works out for you!

Well. Imho early May is the best time to go. Very low crowds. No humidity. And we just pull the kids out of school.
However. If i had to go during the “summer vacation months” it would be in June. You’ll be fine. Just open and close the parks. Go to MK at least 2 days or you won’t come close to seeing it all. And have fun!

Hi Jim! :wave2:

:welcome:

What rides were trying to get at EPCOT? I'm surprised to hear at 60 days all you could find were late afternoon. :worried: EPCOT, in my opinion is typically the park easier to pull FPs from. Even with Test Track, Frozen, and Soarin being tier 1s and you can only hold one at a time, other rides are usually a breeze to get. A previous poster did say the later in June you go the more crowded it gets, so maybe that contributes to your late times? I will say this, pay attention to if they extend park hours. More FPs will drop because the parks will be open longer. Can I assume you were trying for Flight of Passage at AK?

Please don't panic about the money you spent and worrying about it being the wrong time to go. In a playful way of thinking, there is NEVER a wrong time for Disney!! pixiedust: :cheer2: Just do rope drop and take advantage of the light crowds in the AM to wipe out a lot of your favorite rides without the FP. What resort are you guys staying at. Check for Extra Magic Hours in the AM and PM to help knock out some rides too. There are MANY ways to make the best of your trip when one thing doesn't quite go the way you want! GOOD LUCK! :thumbsup2

What day were you looking at Epcot? Just out of curiosity I checked on Monday the 24, and all the big rides have plenty of open times in the morning. Remember you can only choose one Fast Pass out of: Soarin', Test Track, Frozen Ever After because they are "Tier 1" rides. In order to be able to ride other Tier 1 rides, your best bet is to arrive at the park prior to opening and "rope drop" the ride(s) you don't get a Fast Pass for.

Just checked Animal Kingdom on Sunday the 23 and everything except Flight of Passage has morning FastPass times. Your best bet for riding FoP is to "rope drop" it as well.

But as others say, keep checking. People move stuff around all the time when planning Disney trips.

You'll have a great time! There is SOOOO much to do at WDW!

June or July are the months we usually visit due to work schedules. We have been in October, December and February before, and honestly, the crowds were just as bad then. The heat can be oppressive, but again, the hottest trip we ever had was in October.

Keep checking on FP's for times you have that you don't like. Things pop up all the time, but if not, on those days just switch up your normal routine. Have a leisurely morning, then head to a park for the late afternoon and evening. I'm really surprised you had trouble booking Epcot at 60 days though. The website I check for availability shows rides wide open, even at 30 days.

Epcot looks fine at 30 days out, so I’m not sure what’s going on there. Can you give specifics?

Yes, this. What time did you try to get FP+? What attractions? What you describe doesn't sound consistent with what is normal.

WDW is a very busy place 365 days per year, but within that spectrum summer is not busy at all, especially late June. We have a ton of experience with that time frame and it's been fabulous. Give us a bit more detail and we can help.

If you are early risers, try to rope drop the attractions you want to do most. That way if you get them done in the morning you can change the afternoon FP+ to something else.

I would keep trying for FPs earlier in the day as the time gets closer. People may drop some of their's or move them around and an earlier time may open up.
