Worried about Doubletree

We are staying 2 nights before our cruise and will use Hilton Hhonor points.

We chose the Doubletree over the Hampton because of being beachfront (I like having a balcony overlooking the ocean) and because they have a restaurant/bar on-site. Plus their pool looked a little more "involved" and would love to sit out and have a drink while the kids are swimming.

Also, Doubletrees I thought, were usually a step above Hamptons.

However, I was reading on Dave's site that he wasn't very favorable on this location.

Is it really run down? I know they just re-opened after the hurricane damage, has anyone been there since? Did they renovate the whole hotel?

Anyone with experience? Should I change to the Hampton Inn?

TIA

Hi tia,
I was just at the Doubletree yesterday and I was really impressed as to how it looked - Norm and I walked all around the grounds, in the restaurant, everywhere we were allowed and it looked good - they are still working to make it better - I saw the pool area and there were families there - would I recommend it - I would stay there - all the sand that covered that area is gone and replaced with plants etc - If you have any questions, call and speak to Jake in the restaurant area - he was a sweetie letting us wander around as much as we did.
Hope that helps.
Always
Shirley
