We will be at WDW in Oct for 11 nights and are trying to decide where to stay. Right now we have the WL booked (stayed there last Dec and loved it) We have stayed at POR POFQ and CB. We do like having food courts at the moderates but found Roaring Forks at WL to be okay. I am thinking about trying a different resort this Oct. I am considering AKL or maybe YBC ( not sure-- depending on Ap rates or codes we are pretty flexible at this point) We generally eat one sit down meal a day ( either at our resort or in a park). Either a nice breakfast or dinner. For the other meals we usually do counter service in a park or food court . When we were at WL in Dec. we ate at Roaring Forks several times but the selections were obviously not as big as at the food courts at the moderates. Has anyone stayed at a deluxe and found there "counter service" pretty good?? Since we will be staying for 11 days I know we will be doing many breakfasts (which usually aren't the problem) and several either lunch or dinners. Thanks for your imput.

Hi.. you are fine at AKL for the food court items.

MARA is the food court - it has a great selection of foods such as chicken fingers, burgers, fries, sandwiches (hot and cold), salads, pizza, soups, fruits and desserts.

There are a few "themed" african dishes but for the most part - fast food.

Yacht club is tricky - they do not have a traditional food court. They have a Burger & Ice cream restaurant with inside/outside seating and a take out counter.

They also have huricane hanna's for drinks and fast food - but definately not like a food court.

Hope this helps,

You can go to www.wdwig.com and check out the menus for the counter service places at the resorts.

I thought the food at WL was the best. CR was a close second. AKL and Polynesian are tied for the worst. The others fall somewhere in between.

Mara at AKL was wonderful. So many selections and very good food as well. They have seating inside and out. We thought it was alot better than Roaring Fork at WL.
We too have been wondering about fast food type fare at Y & B and BWI that's inside and not out on the boardwalk. I guess there isn't any.

When we have stayed at Deluxe resorts we find since we are closer to the parks we usually eat quick meals in the parks. At BC/YC you are close to Epcot and could grab a quick bite in the World Showcase.

If the codes come through for us this year we plan to stay at WL and we plan to have several meals at the trails end buffet. It's just a short boat trip over the the prices are some of the best at WDW.

I agree with gepetto, the Poly food court is bad! IMHO. We will be staying there again, but probably not use the food court at all (just for refillable mugs). POR has a pretty good food court. Can't understand why moderates can be better than deluxe.:D

Just got back from 3 nights at AKL and 4 at BC. Much perferred AKL. Echo other's comments on Mara. Found the lack of a food court at BC difficult to deal with. Doubt we will return to BC. This was our second time at AKL and we will most likely return to this resort again.

That's the one thing I dislike about BW and BWV--you have to go out to the boardwalk to get something. For a deluxe resort they should have something in the hotel. Mara at AKL has a large selection. We love WL, but the selection gets old for that many days.

Tubby's buffeteria (Swan/Dolphin) is the closest thing to a food court in the Boardwalk area.

Keep in mind (outside of Disney) deluxe hotels usually only have expensive restaurants. Fast food and food courts are usually found in budget to moderate hotels.

If you want to see expensive dining options look at the Universal hotels. You can get great rates at the hotels but the food is pricey (but good).

AKL has a great food court... we love POFQ and were also worried but those worries were put to rest once we had the burgers!!!!

Thanks for all of the replies!!! I am leaning towards staying at AKL or WL (again) I did look at the menus on Deb's and AKL's Mara looked like it had a good selection. I am worried about the YC/BC for this reason so that is why I may choose AKL.
I'd love to hear more opinions.
Thanks again!!

The fast food option was our only downer during our stay at the Beach Club. Out of my 3 kids, 2 are EXTREMELY picky (baffles my mind!) They mainly want chicken fingers, pizza, or mac and cheese. None of those were available at Beaches N Cream (The Y/BC fast food place) and they didn't care for the pizza at the place on the Boardwalk. We did order thru room service a couple of times but that gets expensive. It really makes it difficult when the kids are tired and need to rest in the room but there's no where to grab food to take to the room for them.

The Food N Fun center in the Contemporary is very good. There were hot selections available as well as all kinds of cold sandwich/wrap type things and fruit/cereal... a much better set-up for picky kids!
