Anyone have experience staying here? I am contemplating a road trip to Southern California (well, really to Disneyland) in late July or early August this year. We have 3 kids, including a teenager, so would really like to have a suite. HoJo suites are booked then. I've had good luck renting time share units in the past (once was DVC at WDW-amazing-once a Westin in Scottsdale, which was also very, very nice), generally much more cheaply than renting a comparable hotel room.

Looks like I might be able to get a two bedroom rental here for 1300 or so. Thoughts? Better alternatives?

You may want to look at RI Maingate, the have some suites that are large and closer.

I spent a week in Worldmark last year and on the 28th March will be there again this year..

We liked it,, it was nicely furnished.. the main bedroom in large , the kitchen is stocked with the basics to get you going... some coffee, salt pepper. some spices etc..
And you are close enough to Von's (can use your safeway card there) supermarket to get some food.. taxi there was about 7 dollars. or you can order online and they will deliver.

With in walking distance to Bubba Gumps and the Cheesecake factory.. Yum..

enough pillows and bedding for the pull out couch... TV in both the living area and bedroom.

We did not get hassled by the staff to buy into the hotel... we used a friends timeshare...

the check in process was painless and the staff were friendly..

The hotel is a little bit away from DL park, but there is an ART stop right on the corner of the street. and it comes often , and operates in sinc
with DL park openings and half hour after the park closes..
Although if you like walking you can walk to DL.

The pool is big enough. although gets shadowed by the hotel so to me the water was too cold.. how ever the hot tub was my best friend...

We did not have car to worry about , but there is a parking garage attached to the hotel . Problems I hear about was the door was really heavy so when you first arrive you should unload your car first and then park.

they have a small gift shop which is well stocked and prices are ok.. they have a sale rack..

No WiFi so you will need to hire a box to connect in your room for internet connection.. I think it was $10. a day. Cant remember..

There is a gym. Rec room, that I looked into but didnt spend anytime in.. typical vid games etc..

There is a business center there. where you can get online and print stuff free of charge..

The only neg I can tell you about was the elevators... OMG so VERY slow.
at the time they only had 2 elevators and were working on installing a third one. We would sometimes have to wait for a couple of elevators to come and go before getting on...
we avoided check in time to come back like the plaque just crazy..

all in all I would recommend this hotel as we had a very good experience there ..
Now saying all that , the people whose timeshare we used, did not have the same happy experience that we did,, they said staff were rude to them and they said that they would most likely go else where next time..

Worldmark also run the Dolphin Cove and they have been there and had a great time.. Hope this info has helped some...

Thanks so much, Nikki! Very helpful. Can you come back and post your experience this year? I'll be curious to see if the elevator situation has improved-I've read that complaint lots of places.

Jack, thanks...I'll definitely check that out.

Looks like no availability at the Ramada :(. The available rooms-deluxe 2 queens, cost about as much as the WorldMark.

We were there August 2011, for the Tinkerbell 1/2 Marathon and March 3-7th and stayed in a the 1 ,2 and 3 bedroom units and have always had a great time! Our last trip..The park was still a little busy from Leap day and they also had a cheerleading compitition going on that weekend.

We are owners. You only get hasseled about the timeshare part when you get your parking pass. Once you get through that..they don't bother you again. If you are interested..they do offer some kind of bonus..like a $100 gift card or Disney Dollars. If you go..you can expect to spend 90+ minutes for the "presentation" and they are very pushy and pour on the pressure. We did the math on the current offers..and I have to say that it is NOT WORTH BUYING. The maintance fees and housekeeping/taxes just don't make it worth it.

ANYWAYS.......
Elevators can be on the slow side..depending on times. There are actually 3 of them. Two of them are the "common" elevators..located by the lobby and pool area. The third is over by the "sales" area. We always use that one..and don't ususally have a problem. We love that the parking is free..covered and gated. We usually park our car when we get there and never see it again until we are packing up to head home. We take the Anaheim Transit. You can get tickets at the resort or you can pre-purchase them online. (if you have the time..I would recommend that- you get your tickets a little cheaper and usually kids tickets are free with a paid adult ticket) What is nice is once you are picked up..the very next stop is DL.
Pool area is nice. Closes a little early..9:00pm for kids and 10:00pm for adults. There is a large pool, large hot tub and then a smaller hotter tub and a kiddie pool. There is also BBQ there for your use.
There is a rooftop spa..which is also a good place to view the fireworks at night. There is a workout room, buisness center and game room.
We love that it has a full kitchen and washer/dryer in the units. Makes it nice- you can pack lighter and you can stop at Walmart for your food needs to make your trip a little cheaper.
Its within walking distance to Cheesecake Factory and Bubba Gumps and Garden Walk..which is also nice.
If you have any other questions or concerns..you can always PM me. I am always here to help!

Thanks, M&M! Somehow I missed your reply earlier, but it was very helpful. We don't mind cooking on vacation (plus saving money is almost as cool as NOT having to eat three meals a day in a restaurant with a 2 year old!), and the space a timeshare unit gives is usually fabulous.

I'll just tell 'em we're both unemployed or something, to cut back the timeshare pressure :).

We have stayed there for a week at a time during the Fall months, the last 3 years and we LOVE it! My mom is an owner and last year she was nice enough to book us the Presidential suite and it was AWESOME!!!! My kiddos were running back and forth through the whole suite!
The staff is always nice and never asked us to watch a presentation. It is close to the Garden Walk and also the Disney parking lot on Katella. You could walk to that parking lot and ride the tram to the DL entrance. :)
Rooms are big and clean and stocked well with kitchen supplies. If you run out of laundry soap or anything, you can pick it up downstairs. They have a guard that keeps watch in the parking lot too.
Hope that helps. :) Have a great time!

Hi again,,

You asked for an update when I arrived. So here it is..
We got in about 2pm yesterday afternoon.. got registered etc,, but couldnt check in until 4pm, (we knew this already). Dumped the hubby with the kids (they went swimming- crazy as it was COLD.) and went to Vons. the hotel staff called us a cab and within 5 mins it was there..

When we got back it was time to go up to our room, we had two of the luggage carts, we were told we could 3 on the elevator but due to our incompetence we did one at a time which allowed other people to get on...lol

We have a two bedroom suit and its lovely.. over looking the pool..

Got the call to come get the complimentary pack.. so down stairs I went.
Yes they tried to get me to go the free breakfast and 90 min presentation but as soon as I told her I didnt have a credit card..she threw out the paper work she had just done and said,, ok no worries. if you dont have a credit card they dont want you there.. gave me a 6 day parking pass and said have a wonderful time here and that was that.. :)

They now have Wifi, but its $4.95 per day.
$15.95 for ten days
or $49.95 annual subscription
you connect online and pay with credit card

The lifts are still a bit slow... the front end guy said they now have 4 of them..

but if you avoid peak times you should be fine.

Once again very impressed with this hotel. the staff and location..

Thanks so much for the update! And I'm totally using the no credit card strategy.
