World Pass from Theme Park Land - Asking for SS#?

I live in the US and I recently ordered 10 day World Pass tickets from Theme Park Land. Per the instructions on the web site, I faxed them a copy of my credit card - front and back. Today I received an email from them telling me they need my social security # to verify the credit card with the bank. I'm not very comfortable with this idea and wondered if anyone has had a similar request?

I don't think I'd be comfortable with that either but I've never ordered tickets from them so I don't know their procedure. I've never had to give any other company or store my SS # when I've ordered things via phone or internet so I'd be supicious if I were you.

That really sounds odd and would send up a red flag for me. Your SS# is not something that a merchant should be requesting. I would contact my credit card company to check this out. Something just does not sound right.

I wouldn't give it either -- I thought they were no longer shipping to the U.S. the 10 day passes? I am so confused!!

I wouldn't do it if I were you! I've never heard of a company needing a SS# to charge a credit card. In fact, I used to process cc transactions online at my last job and nowhere on the submition form did it ask for, or have a space for, the cc holder's SS#. I'd be suspicious of someone trying to "steal" your identity. Call the company and ask them about this--if they insist you must give it to them, do business with someone else.

I bought 10 world passes also. Last week they sent a letter confirming everything I had faxed them. (Name, Amounts, credit cards # ect) They did NOT ask for my social security#. I would think if they need yours they would need everyone who purchases from them. This sounds very suspect to me.

The only reason I posted is because we must have purchased them at about the sametime and are being treated differently.

Hope it works out.

Thanks to all who responded! Today, I received another email from Theme Park Land informing me they will no longer be able to ship to the US. I must have just missed the cut-off but I'm glad since that request for my SS# really changed my mind about doing business with them. I'll just have to get my passes elsewhere.

Did you check out Paramount international travel for their fun in the sun. They are good for 30 days and they cost 310 for an adult. I think that's a great price. This includes admission to Kennedy Space center and a number of other non disney parks. This pass is good for all disney parks, water parks, PI, I believe Dq, etc.

Where are the details about Fun in the Sun on the Paramount website please? That price is cheaper than the 10 day world pass.
