Hi everyone! This is my first post on the boards!

My boyfriend and I recently fell back in love with the Disney Parks after our 1st trip to WDW a couple of weeks ago. Now we are anxious to revisit the park we both cherished as kids... Disneyland! Were planning our trip during Halloween.

We are looking for ways to make the trip extra special and are curious about the preferred seating options for World of Color.

Have any of you done the picnic or dinner which includes special seats during the show? We're traveling on a budget so are only able to partake in a couple of these special options. Let us know what you thought/which is a better value/etc.

Any other Disneyland tips are appreciated!

Thank you!

You don't get special seats for the show (there are no actual "seats", standing room only). You get the fast passes without having to wait in line with everyone else in the morning!

Ah ha! I'm glad I asked. We got a bit confused while trying to sift through the Disney site and misunderstood.

Thanks for letting me know!

Yes, as CD mentioned, there are no seats. Doing the expensive dinner package guarantees you a spot standing in the "best" viewing area. A picnic guarantees you a spot standing in one of the two "better" viewing areas (but not the best). They are both just a matter of convenience to save you from waiting in line for a free WOC Fastpass, but they don't necessarily guarantee you good views. If someone taller than you gets there first, or someone in front of you decides to pick up their kid and put them on their shoulders, well...you just paid $40 to see the back of someone's head, know what I mean? They are good options, however, if you won't be around earlier in the day to pick up a free pass.

You'll find everything you ever wanted to know about WOC here: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2542717&highlight=woc+superthread

Hello and welcome! :wizard:

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction! Still trying to figure out how to navigate through all of the information on here.

I'll check out the super thread!

sonnyjane - Both of us are a tad on the short side. Sounds like one of these options will at least reduce the risk one of us having to enjoy the back of someone's head for 25 minutes. I think we're set on doing one or the other... perhaps the decision will just have to be made by our stomachs!

Thanks again!

done the dinner and picnic i would do the picnic again in a heartbeat.

best bet is get by a rail so you dont have to look over someone

If budget is a concern, I'd definitely do the picnic. I haven't read any super-rave reviews about the dinners (mostly the best reviews--including my own--were along the lines of "it was OK").

I'm not sure the picnic will make your trip "special," exactly, but I don't think the dinner was very special either. And you can use the money you save to buy a pretty nice meal in Downtown Disney or elsewhere.

Have a great trip!

When we first looked in to this we kind of misunderstood what was involved. But since we're both short... the "specialness" may come from having the chance to actually SEE the show. We didn't have any problems in WDW with the fireworks being overhead, but it sounds like WoC is kind of a different beast.

Thank you for the tips!

I think you still might not be understanding the "benefits" of getting a picnic or dinner. If you get a dinner package, you get a Fastpass to the premium area. If you get the picnic, you get a Fastpass for either the blue or yellow sections. The problem is that the blue and yellow sections are also open to people that got the free FP's from the machine (the machine spits out blue, yellow, and red). This means that if you get a picnic, it's just saving you time from having to wait in line for a pass. It is NOT giving you premium viewing over other people. If you're really concerned about getting a great spot, you will need to line up about an hour before the show begins and get a spot standing at the railing. If you really, really are concerned about getting the best view, then you should do the premium dining package AND line up well in advance to get a good spot. I just want you to understand that paying for a meal or picnic does not, in itself, guarantee you a great spot. You can get just as good a spot with a free Fastpass. The premium dining package will give you a better spot, but as far as the picnics go, you can get the exact same viewing area for free, you just have to get to the FP machine early in the day. Hope that helps to clear it up a little! :)

Yup, I get it! It's all about the convenience of not having to line up for a FP with everyone else in the morning and the one you choose depends on which section you want to wait in line for. Dinner sounds like the best option to us. And we're fully prepared to do plenty of waiting in line before the show in order to get a suitable "short person" viewing spot in the preferred dinning area. :)

I did some more reading last night and found a great map of the different viewing area's that helped a lot.

Thanks for continuing to help clarify things for me. The world of Disney can be overwhelming.

Cool! I felt badly after I posted that yesterday. I didn't mean to imply that you didn't "get it", I just wanted to make sure that you didn't spend money on something you didn't need or that you did spend money on what you did need! Enjoy the show.:lovestruc I LOVE it!

In the perfered dinning the front of the big circle closest to the water is a great view. Any rail you can get to so noone can get in front of you is great

No worries! I really appreciate the help. I did get a little turned around there.

We are SO excited for our trip and especially WOC. I hope October gets here quick!
