Question on both of these for everyone. DL newbie, been to WDW. I've been doing alot of reading to prepare for our Nov. trip and it seems as if these two shows require staking out a spot hours beforehand and then standing for the show. Is there nowhere to maybe book a dinner reservation (besides the dessert party) and still see the shows? Just curious.

Do you mean eat and watch the show at the same time? If so, no, other than Cove Bar for WOC, but it isn't the ideal view and you'd have to get there pretty early to try and get a spot near the water. There are dining packages, but that just gets you a ticket to the show in a special spot (still standing).

World of Color uses FastPass (and so should Fantasmic when it returns). So I don't think it's hours ahead of the show. Once you get from the FP holding area into the show area you can sit down until the show starts, and even take a quick trip to the restroom if you check with the CM at the rope. As always, the later show has fewer people and shouldn't require as much lead time to get a good view.

Fantasmic! at DL does not have a dedicated theatre with seating the way DHS does - it's right out there in a main park area. Same with WOC, pretty much. The area in which it's presented isn't trafficked the way ROA is for F!, but still - no seating available except the Dessert Party. For both shows, once you get into the seating area, they'll let you sit for a little while, but, about 30 minutes before the show starts, they make everyone stand up to fit more people.

You can do a dining package for WOC. Like Fantasmic at WDW you get a pass to a special entry spot and section. Because WOC is standing only- even with the dining FP you still need to get there 45 minutes to an hour early to get a good spot. When we do it, we usually bring ponchos and go into the wet zone about 45 minutes before the show. We have always gotten a front spot on the rail- but you will get wet if you don't use a poncho- and if the wind is blowing the right way, that can be really wet.

Check the first few and last few pages of the WOC Superthread on this board for more information about WOC viewing and dining packages. There are currently 3 dining packages (WCT and Ariel's have one section closer to the water, CCR has a section further back). Both dining package sections are center viewing, standing only. The Dessert Party has actual seats. The section is just to the left (facing the bay) of the CCR section. There is less waiting for the Dessert Party, and you can sit through the show. We've done all three sections and enjoyed them, but prefer CCR (we like to be able to see the water and be up at a railing). There are several threads on this board about the Dessert Party if you want more information.
Assuming F! is back by November (and it should be) and assuming the FP dining packages are the way they were before the show went on hiatus, there should be two dining packages available. One at BB which came with a seat cushion and had center area seating (on the ground). And one at RBT which came with no cushion and had seating behind the BB section. (Sometimes it looked like the two sections were intermingled -- some guests with cushions and some without.) All seating was on the ground. Some guests reported being able to stay seated on the patio at RBT, but the view from there isn't great.
