We are going to be at DL for 3 days in June (15-17). I have two questions in relation to the evening shows...

1) Does getting a FP for a show (ie - WoC) create a wait window for your next Maxpass? I know you have to get a paper ticket, but does obtaining that paper ticket create a 90-minute wait for Maxpass, or are the two separated in the system?

2) At what time of day, in the summer, do these FP's run out? Is this something we need to get to early, or are they generally available into the afternoon?

Thanks!

1) No, getting the FP paper ticket for either show does not affect your ability to get FP for rides in any way.
2) I would say GO AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE. We were there last Sept and by mid morning the F! passes were gone. It was a Sunday and I was surprised how quickly they ran out.

Thanks. Not sure how concerned we are with Fantasmic (we've seen it at WDW a number of times), but we definitely want to get to World of Color! We were there in 2010 and my wife missed it because our son was a baby and needed to be done for the day. I absolutely loved the show and we want to make sure the whole family sees it!

Let me ask a follow-up...what is the point of a dining package for these shows? At WDW, you can't get a FP without hindering your FP+ for the entire day (and in some cases, they aren't available at all). In these cases, what you are really paying for in a dining package is having the reserved seating without a long wait.

At DL, however, grabbing a paper FP early in the day is not that difficult. Is there some other advantage to the dining package that makes it worth it?

I would recommend trying to see Fantasmic-I’m not a huge show person but Fantasmic in DL is amazing-much, much better than at WDW.

There aren’t seats for it at DL-just crowds, like fireworks at WDW. Fast passes give you access to specific areas to watch. Definitely recommend-and you don’t lose anything by grabbing one as they don’t affect your ride FP

WOC FPs usually last well into the afternoon. When there are 2 shows on a night the second show FPs last into the evening.

For F!, a dining package gets you a spot on the ground near the front. Not hreat but better than standing further back. Plus, if you happen to arrive late that day you can still get a FP for the show.

For WOC, you get access to a central standing area. WOC is complicated to see and you should study the WOC Superthread in my signature.

Normally you can’t see wot without a fastpass or dining package. There normally isn’t any standby.

As stated above, definitely read through the first page and possibly the last few pages of the WOC Superthread. A WOC FP is required for admittance to the viewing area. There are non-FP viewing areas, but the views from those areas aren't great (at best). There are dining package areas (WCT up front and CCR further back -- both center views) and the Dessert Party (the only WOC view with a real chair). If you have the time to invest in waiting for a good spot, then free FPs can work for you. If you have some time to invest and were planning on dining at WCT or CCR anyway, the dining package FPs may work well for you. If you want a guaranteed seat with minimal wait time and with waiter service (dessert plate and beverages, alcohol and non), then go for the Dessert Party.
F! at DL is almost unanimously reported to be better than the show at WDW, but the viewing is rather complicated. The dining packages have the best viewing -- waterfront, up front view and most centered, on the ground seating. RBT has a premium package which has dinner and F! on the patio for the first show -- so you get dinner and a chair, but the view is farther back. Free FP viewing is crowded, mostly standing only, and seems to depend a great deal on luck whether you have a good or bad view.
