I was just checking the Disneyland Schedule for times and found some bad news. Looks like World of Color will be down Feb 21 through March 5. And our trip is right in the middle of that. Yay.

Thanks Disneyland. It's not enough that there's no Mark Twain, Crockett Canoes, Tom Sawyer Island, Pirates of the Caribbean, Railroad Train, Fantasmic!, Matterhorn, Grizzly River Run, Pixar Play Parade, Paint the Night, Tower of Terror, or Mickey's Fun Wheel. You gotta cancel WOC on top of all of that. Do you think you could make up for that and have DL fireworks each night instead of just the weekend?

I'm just surprised we got a whole 28 days notice. Really frustrated.

Oh man, this is awful news! Our trip is scheduled in there too; that is just a TON down at one time.:guilty:

Yeah, that's my biggest problem. I get that there's a lot down for SWL, but c'mon. When I go to Disneyland, I expect Disneyland...not a ghost town of downed attractions and entertainment.

I'm super bummed about everything that is down too. We are going with my sister and her family and they hardly ever go to Disneyland and I'm worried about how crowded it's going to feel with so many rides down AND only 1 parade for ALL of the evening entertainment.

Exactly! With no parade at DCA and now no WOC, there'll be a mass exodus to Disneyland each evening so that people feel they're getting their money's worth. I emailed Disney about all of this, just hoping for a "sorry about that". But so far, nothing.

Sorry you're feeling frustrated. I know that's the gamble that we take when we visit January-March. Less people, but more refurbishments. It was a little sad for us when we learned Pirates would be down, but that's just one ride out of tons. 4 of those refurbs have been ongoing for awhile and they're all contained in one area. The PTN parade is "replaced" with Main Street Electrical parade, so at least it is still a colorful night time parade. It's not so bad when you think about that.

Hope you'll still be able to have a good time! :)

I'm sure it's very disappointing, but at least your tradeoff is lower crowds. People think we are crazy for visiting DL in the summer, but it's when we can go, and the upside is that so many of the rides are up and running, and there is a full entertainment schedule. Ah, but the crowds are certainly there!!! So I hope an emptier park will be some consolation. :)

This is rather interesting. So refurbishments / downtime for rides and attractions tend generally to be scheduled for January - March ? Mind you, even if DL and DCA are crowded, the control is certainly there, so it is never a problem. Guess we have to make more use of the Fastpass and other systems there to be sure of seating. I know in January 2015, when my wife and I visited DL from the UK the World of Color show was one of the attractions that was not working after the Christmas period but we still enjoyed the parks despite this.

We picked March specifically because we hoped the crowds would be more manageable. I was expecting some rides to be down. I'm really bummed not to be able to do POTC...but such is life. If RSR was shut down, I would be SUPER upset and may even try to reschedule our trip...so if that's how you feel about WOC, POTC or Matterhorn, well...I feel for you!

Take March and extend it to May, specifically Memorial Day. Major refurb projects can started late winter can take until sometime in May to complete. Memorial weekend is Disney's summer kick-off so most everything is up & running by then. But so are the crowds- and the hotel prices!

If it was just me and my kids going I wouldn't mind so much. This is our last trip on our passes and we've been enough times it's not a big deal when something is down and we can handle moderate crowds. BUT, I talked my husband and his sister and her family into coming with us and then I realized that WOC is down and so is Soundsational and Pixar parades along with all the refurbishments. I'm just hoping crowds are actually low (I have my doubts) because with so much not running there's no where for the crowds to go.
