Workplace vent.

There are two guys in the cubes next to mine that really need some soap. I've heard 6 instances of foul language in a very loud venting voice in the past 2 minutes. These guys *always* talk across cubes rather than getting up and talking to each other in a reasonable tone of voice. And now they're doing it with foul language.

I fully understand venting. Everyone needs to do it now and again. And for some people, feelings get out better by using foul language. But in the work place, if you *must* say a foul word, mute it.

We're between managers right now, or I'd go to my manager and ask him to go to their manager and remind them to watch their language.

Ok, my DH had to deal with this in his workplace.

Contrary to some men, he doesn't curse, and really doesn't like to hear it in the workplace... its not professional/and it spoils the image of the company that the employees are projecting.

His manager (a woman with an atitude), used to curse like a sailor to my DH.. who is the Team Lead/team supervisor. Maybe she had something to prove to him.. I don't know.

Anyway, DH had to sit her down.. and said look I don't appreciate when you use these words, and he actually said all the words she said right back to her. He said its not professional, and you have nothing to prove to me. He said also he is a Christian, and didn't appreciate hearing Gods name in vain as well.

Well, she apologized, and hasn't done it as bad.. Occasionally she will slip, mostly with my DH's team members, but its definetely better than what it was.

Tammi, I think various societal laxities, (movies, TV, etc) lead to people imitating these and acting like that as 'normal'. A sad commentary IMO.
