To the guy wandering the halls holding your empty coffee cup:

It's very easy to make a pot of coffee - dump the old grounds in the trash; put in a filter; cut open the pre-measured packet of coffee and dump into the filter. Replace filter basket in coffee machine, put pot under spout and hit the "start" button. That's it!

:surfweb:The girl who normally makes the coffee is late this morning. On my way to the ladies room after I got in this morning, I saw this guy wander by the coffee station, see there wasn't any coffee made and walk back down the hall without making any coffee. I came out of the ladies room, saw him walk by the coffee station yet again, still holding his empty cup. Took me a whopping 1 minute to get a pot going.

Why can't people make a pot of coffee? If you drink it, you should know how to make it. Do these people think they're too good to do something so menial as make a pot of coffee? Grrrrrrr.......

I will never understand the "I don't know how to make coffee" people. Especially when there is a premeasured packet. To me, the only variable is how much to use. Remove that variable, and my toddler can make coffee.

I dont even drink coffe and I know how to make a pot.:rotfl2:

I used to have a boss who had me make coffee every morning because it "was a girls job." I didn't even drink coffee, and I had the same excact actual job as all the boys. Why did I have to make the stupid coffee?

They do that in my office too. I work with a bunch of engineers but apparently the coffee area is too complicated for them. I must be a genius because I can fill the hot water pot. Almost every time I make coffee something is empty. Usually its the sugar or the stirrers. If you use the last of it, replace it. It's not even like the replacements are far away. They are on the shelf right under the coffee maker!

We have several of those type of people here also. :sad2:

Very sad. I often wonder what would happen to them if the ones that DO make didn't show up for work on the same day.

Would they go without or put all their little brains together and figure out how it is done as a group??

:rolleyes1

Or what about the person that takes the last bit of coffee and doesn't turn off the machine. I mean how much effort does it take to hit the little switch?

We have had so many burnt coffee pots in this office and they STINK really bad. :sad2:

In our office, anyone who can put a quarter into the slot can make a cup of coffee.

I was in our kitchen this morning microwaing a cup of water for my tea, when one of our directors nearly emptied the pot of coffee and then just put it back. The man has no shame. I do think he's one of those types who considers it "women's work". :furious: If you finish the pot or nearly finish it make the next one!!!!!

I would switch to tea at work.

agnes!

I'm not a coffee drinker either and don't like to make it because I don't drink it- and we don't always have the premeasured packets here- not to mention that most of the people that make it usually don't use the premeasured packet as measured lol

But yeah- if you drink it and you work in the office you should learn how to make it... poor pathetic guy is mommy probably still buttons his shirts for him too.

I once worked for this one doctor- I was cleaning instruments- up to my elbows in dirty medical instruments- and he walks in saying "There's no coffee" I look over at him and try to convey with my eyes " I know you don't expect me to stop what I'm doing and go make you coffee" but instead say, "Really- I don't drink coffee, if you aren't sure how to work the pot when I finish up here I can take a look at it and figure it out for you" He pouted and went off to find someone else there lol. And I think later it was made someone's official job duty to make the coffee at certain times of the day. lol

I could have written this post word for word! The only exception is that I used to work with a bunch of engineers. Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, to boot! But, ohhhhhhhh, the mysterious powers and workings of a coffeepot...oooooooooooo!

My DH is an engineer, and I think they like to make things MUCH more complicated than they need to be, including making coffee (I work with lawyers, btw). Once I made the "mistake" of asking him to help me get beef stew ready to go in the crockpot. I gave him the job of peeling and dicing the potatoes. In the time it took him to peel ONE potato, I had everything else in the crockpot ready to go. But, boy, I could have used a ruler on those diced potatoes when they were done - they were all EXACTLY the same size!:rotfl2:

We don't make coffee at our office, (way too big) but I have worked with these types before. Their mentality is why should I make it when someone else will. Its alot easier to keep getting up every 5 min to ck the pot then take the 5 min to make it. Now my dh office, the rule is the first one in makes the coffee. If it's gone and you want some then you make it. :surfweb:

LOL, I know what you mean, Amy. I usually keep the pot going when I'm at work (in a hospital, night shift), but if I'm too busy I sometimes have to "talk someone through it", ie "wash the pot, put a filter in, measure out four medicine cups of coffee and add a full pot of water". There. Fairly simple. :rolleyes1 Heck, even my 9 yo can make a pot at home!

:lmao: I knew how the potato dicing scene was going to play out before I ever reached the end of your sentence! I really miss my engineers! I think they are mentally sketching out the schematics in their heads before they attempt the simplest of tasks. Always ultra prepared for any possible situation. With a heavy heart, I left them for a "better opportunity" with a group of architects. Night and day. Don't get me started.

I guess I should stop hijacking this thread now. Sorry OP!
