Working on Weight Loss During Training—New Year New Us!

Hi, all! I did well yesterday at the baseball game and out to dinner afterwards. At the ballpark, I shared a popcorn with DH and DD. Then DH and I shared a soft pretzel (much better choice than the hot dog I smelled and wanted! LOL!)
I tasted a spoon of DH's seafood chowder and DD's chili and had a bite of DS's rib. I ordered a bison burger with no bun and extra veggies instead of fries. Then I had about 8 of DD's fries. All in all, pretty controlled. Didn't even order the make your own s'mores dessert that I am sure Jen would have loved! :goodvibes

After our 5k today they had so many delicious goodies. I wont' even list them because just thinking of them is enough to trigger a binge. Suffice it to say I had 3 small packs of apple slices (35 cals each), 1 orange wedge, a taste of italian water ice. That's it. Now I am at work, having left my lunch at home, so I just had 94% FF popcorn. I know I have tuna and canned chicken here as well as some fruit, etc., so I'll try to be good today. I am 2.9 pounds away from where I want to be for my next mini-goal.

I would definitely have to say my best meal choice yesterday was the bison burger with no bread, lettuce, tomato, onion, dill pickle & mixed veggies. Delicious!

Hi Guys!

I think breakfast in general is my best meal. Even on the weekends, I don't go too crazy. Today I had a bowl of honey nut cheerios and milk.

The rest of the day was not pretty. If I'm honest, I have not eaten well for the past 4 days. And workouts...other than the crunches and push-ups, I have nothing to be happy about.

Tomorrow I am determined to get back on track. Gotta drive my own wagon!

Hi Everyone,

How is everyone doing today?

Dave: I guess if I'm going to be guilty by association, I might as well become a princess of YARC.

Cam:
Good job on staying away from all the post-race yummies. After my race they had pizza and Dunkin Donuts donuts and muffins along with other healthier choices. My big splurge was a Vitamin Water. I had never had one before and found them quite tasty. There are 125 calories in a bottle, but since I had just burned 300 from running I decided I had earned it.

Kristi: I hope you've adjusted to Chad's new schedule.

Minnie: How are you doing? I hope your stress is all gone. (Is it ever?)

Maria: I tend to make good choices for breakfast especially because I don't want to blow it for the day.

Jen: Hope your lfamily/work/life stress gets better.

Yesterday I had 2 yummy meals. For lunch I had a whole wheat wrap - I don't know if Cedar's is a national brand, but they make a great high fiber wheat wrap that is only 1 pt. I've noticed that some wraps are as high as 3 pts. On the wrap I put 1 oz. skinless deli turkey, 1/4 c cottage cheese, 1 T fat free sundried tomato salad dressing and 1/2 c shredded broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and carrots (pre-packaged.) It was yummy. 5 pts.

For dinner I had sweet turkey sausage with cabbage, onions and apples. I cooked the sausage then set aside. I added 1 T olive oil to the skillet then 6 c shredded cabbage, 3 chopped apples and 1 chopped onion. I let that cook for 10 to 15 minutes, took some out for my husband then added 1/4 c white vinegar to the rest (he detests vinegar). It was very yummy for 6 pts. I even have leftovers for another meal.

My weigh in this week shows a 3 lb loss. I thought maybe I was still dehydrated from my LR on Monday so I waited to get back on the scale this morning and it was still the same. Yipee!!:cool1: That makes it over 20 lbs since January. I have never had success like this at losing weight, so my sincere thanks to all of you for making this possible.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

Allright Cindy.

By the power infested in me by Judy, HoneiBee:snooty: Merciful and mischevious Queen of the court of "YARC", I bestow upon you the title:

Cindy, Pretty Princess of nature's wild beauty.

Now bow to the Queen and tell your hubby you are due a present and you will be recieving it this evening so he best be out collecting it. You are royalty now.

Dave:hippie: "YARC"

Hey all... I was out of town most of last week... BUT I didn't gain anything. I was so proud!!!

I am posting today's breakfast. 3 egg whites scrambled with ham and a little cheese. DD4 sat with me and ate off my plate because it was so good.

Cam - I know that recipe can also be made in the crockpot. I have seen it on some WW recipe threads. Not sure if it would taste different tho.

Good Evening!

I've been spending so much time on Sparkpeople, I feel like I never get over to the DIS.

Anyway, my best meal today was lunch, and it contained Fritos! LOL

I had half a caesar salad wrap, sugar snap peas, 1/2 c. guacamole, and 1 oz. Fritos to scoop the guac. It seemed to be a good balance for me. I know I should have skipped the Fritos, but I was proud for limiting my amount.

Yesterday I walked for 95 minutes to "Music & Lyrics", a cute movie. Today I ran for 45 on the TM. I'm finally getting my cardio back! I've also started to really make progess with the strength training. Thanks to Cam, I'm doing push-ups and crunches every day, and it seemed natural to add some lower body stuff and weights while I'm at it.

Here's to a great rest of the week!
Maria

Maria -- your lunch had me :) Sounds delish to me!
My best meal yesterday was leftover london broil mixed with eggbeaters for dinner last night. Followed by a weight watchers brownie ala mode dessert.

Today's food hasn't been stellar but I keep telling myself my breakfast (sesame bagel w/the tiniest smidge of cream cheese) was my carb load for tonight's 5k. Lunch will be turkey chili. Maybe a banana. I also have watermelon. I think I will probably eat again late afternoon to fuel my wog since I am still hoping to finally achieve sub-40:00. I will do shredded wheat with skim milk and mixed berries. Hopefully that will be a good choice. The race start is 6:45, so I think I'll do that at about 5:00 or so.

Afterwards, I want DH to take me out for a bison burger like last Friday night, but since I have london broil in the fridge at home, maybe we'll just head home to eat that.

Cam -- Good luck with the 5K! I've never had bison, but my dh loves that and ostrich.

Today's best meal was dinner -- cheese tortellini with spaghetti sauce (portioned, of course) and a skinny cow ice cream cone (vanilla w/caramel topping).

My lunch was a mess -- I had to lead a post-mortem on the application process for a good chunk of our funding over lunch. Everyone else who would normally have a role could not make the meeting, so eating for me was not going to happen. I had a few bites of tuna salad, 1/4 Greek salad and potato chips. By the time I could eat dessert, it was all gone. No kidding. There were brownies, cookies...but these people ate everything on the plate. I guess it's actually good, 'cause I'm having a big blowout food party tomorrow night.

I'm not counting calories, and let's just say I'm having all my favorites while I watch the last Stargate. I'm calling it my dinner (chocolate covered raisins = fruit +antioxidants, right? LOL), and I will have a good breakfast and lunch. If I don't eat it during that hour, I don't eat it -- I didn't eat during any other season finales, and the time for the party in my mouth is almost here.

Saturday morning I will be up early and off for my long run, so this is a very controlled splurge.

I hope everyone is doing great!
Maria

Ok, not a good weekend. I never managed to pull it back together. But, as Scarlett O'Hara would say, "Tomorrow is another day!"

Maria

Good morning everyone,

Maria: Sorry it was a tough weekend. Hope you can get back to it today.

My weekend wasn't the best as far as eating. I had 3 events to go to and I really should have planned better. The first one was a picnic for all the kids who played baseball and softball this spring so we went with my DS5. They served only hotdogs and hamburgers, chips, dessert and soda. So there weren't any healthy choices to make. I could have just skipped it and eaten when I got home, but I was starving since I had only an energy bar all afternoon after my workout. I started with just one hotdog, but was still feeling hungry so ended up eating another 1/2 hotdog, sampling my kids' chips and cookies and soda.

The next day I led a group of 5 year olds on a hike so I had made up a big bag of goldfish, raisins and M&Ms. I got started on those and just never stopped the rest of the weekend. Luckily I did get a lot of exercise.

My third event was a bday party. I knew ahead of time they were serving pizza so I decided I'd have just one piece. But it tasted so good I ended up with a second piece. Then I had to finish my kids' chocolate cake since I didn't want it to go to waste, so I ended up eating nearly a full piece of that. Oh well, hopefully I'll start fresh today.

Have a great day everyone.

Cindy

It is official -- we are having a fresh start today!

I did my crunches and push-ups this morning, and had a cheese omelet for breakfast. I'm having yogurt as a snack, then baked fries and stir-fried veggies for lunch.

I still need to get back to running, I'm hoping that will come later this week. Hang in there, we are going to make good changes one at a time!

Dave & Cindy -- Thanks for the encouragement. You guys rock!

Maria

Hey everyone :yay:

I've been MIA for a while because I fell off the wagon once again :guilty:

I wanted to wait till I had a couple days under my belt before I felt worthy of posting again and todays the day :cool1:

Vacation at WDW is now only 3 weeks away so I'm going to try to be very very good and see what happens :wizard:

Will try to catch up with everyone soon. I have finals until Wed so I might be scare but I'll try :goodvibes

Welcome back Minnie. Glad you've had a few good days.

Maria: Glad you're eating well. Good luck with the running this week. It may have to be on the TM with the heat wave they're predicting for this week.

I definately have eaten better the last 2 days. I hope the scale will be kind to me tomorrow for WI. My yummy meal tonight was chicken breast baked with garlic powder and seasoned salt added to a bowl of rotini with 1/2 a can of diced tomatoes and grated parmesan cheese.

Have a good night everyone.

Cindy

OK, here was my dinner from yesterday. Tuna fish sandwich on toast with a salad. I haven't had a tuna sandwich in forever and it was awesome. We were in a hurry last night and it was so hot, so I made a cool sandwich for DH and I. The girls opted for pb and jelly. We went to the pool and then I went for a quicky run when we got home.

Maria - How did your day end up? I ate chinese for dinner, so I didn't fare well on the eating front!

Minnie - Welcome back.

So glad to see everyone here. I have to keep reminding myself that every moment is a new chance to make a good decision. I am glad to see everyone committing or re-committing. It really inspires me. I just have to be careful that I don't fall into a mindset of "I can start fresh tomorrow". I actually caught myself thinking that one day last week and I had to re-direct myself away from a treat in the fridge.

Yesterday was literally a new start for me, back on weight watchers flex points but tracking calories on sparkpeople. Weight watchers says I should have 23 points per day and yesterday I had 20. Sparkpeople says it was less than 1100 calories, with my target range 1200-1550. I'd like to stay around 1000 - 1100 for the next 3.5 weeks until we leave for Disney and see where that puts me. I also did 60 minutes on the treadmill, 100 crunches, 100 push-ups and 20 side bends (each side), hamstring stretches & wheelbarrow, all on the swiss ball.

Today, I got up determined to stay on track and got my crunches and push-ups out of the way early, inspired by Maria! I am also doing a better job of drinking water, thanks to advice and a challenge from Jen.

Let's do this guys! We will all be healthier at the end of the day than we were when we woke up! :goodvibes :thumbsup2

Hi Everyone,

Cam: Congrats on 50 days of crunches and pushups. That is a major accomplishment. I'm glad that you can see the results of your hard work. Good luck with the recommitment to WW. Having a vacation in the near future is a great incentive to stick with it.

Jen: Good job on eating healthy. It's good to remember that you can have a quick meal that's good for you too.

I did weigh in this morning and am down a 1/2 lb. I'll take it, I feel lucky to have any loss at all this week. The very exciting news is that I now have a new middle number. Yea!! It's been at least 7 yrs since I've seen this weight. I went up into the attic to bring down all my "skinny clothes". Turns out most of them are WAAAYYYYY out of style. I'll just have to live with it though since I'm hoping only to be passing through this size on the way to my goal wt. Once I'm there it's time for a big-time shopping spree!!!

Have a great day everyone.
Cindy

woohoo! Cindy, that is so awesome! I am striving for a new middle number that I haven't seen since I was 13 or 14. 30 years ago! I DEFINITELY should be able to get pretty far into that "decade" by the time I turn 44 on 8/3! :lmao:

Cam: Wow that is truly amazing. What a major accomplishment for you. You must be beside yourself with happiness and pride. Continued success to you. :yay:

Thank you, Cindy! Now, if only the dratted scale would move! :lmao: The fact is, everything seems to be toning and strengthening but the pounds are no longer falling off and the scale isn't being cooperative. I just keep reminding myself that at least I have the whole "maintaining" thing down pat. LOL!
I did go to WW WI last night. I was up 1.4 pounds from when I last went on 5/22. Not too horrible considering Memorial Day weekend, a long weekend visit from our friend from Australia (with cookout and lots of meals out), special olympics weekend, a graduation party, and then this past weekend filled with meals out, etc. with good WISH team friends who were visiting. All in all, I am not beating myself up. I am sure I can take off that 1.4 before next Tuesday's weigh in. I am 3.9 away from that next middle number!

Today's food:
B: coffee w/skim milk; lite multi-grain english muffin w/1 sl FF cheese; apple slices
L: 6 pt microwave meal over lettuce & tomato (I have broccoli & FF cheese but am too full. I'll eat it later)
S: watermelon chunks
D: LC panini before going to the gym. Salad with a little bit of very lean ground beef, mushrooms & onions over it when I get home from the gym

I even have points left over for dessert and will probably do some kind of shake/smoothie in the blender to get in another 1/2 serving of non-fat dairy. I bought 2 delicious smelling pineapples last night (BOGO) and am looking forward to using some of that, maybe with fat free plain yogurt.

Yesterday's delicious meal -- I cooked a lean cuisine panini before leaving work and put it in a baggie. After my WW meeting and before I went to the gym, I ate it and it was still warm and it was definitely delicious. I am going to try to get into the habit of eating before leaving work or on the way to the gym if I can.
