for those of you who don’t remember, my fellow disney chick Karen has breast cancer. We had to cancel our October trip because she was having the surgery. She has recently started chemo and has been sick. This past weekend she had her head shaved as her hair is starting to fall out. I have a hard time dealing with this as she is a dear friend and has a very healthy lifestyle (compared to mine)

About the only thing I can do is sew – it comforts me and now it will comfort her. I’ve decided to make her a chenille throw using some beautiful hydrangea fabric I found. I had fellow employees sign squares with words of comfort, drawings and whatever they chose to contribute that will be appliqued to the back of the throw.

I would like to surround these squares with a center one showing the names of all those who participated and why. The why is my problem. I want to say something like, to keep you warm and comfort you, that we’re thinking of you etc.

Does anyone have a saying or poem I could use. Any help would be appreciated. I will post a picture when it’s done.

Many thanks for your help.

No words of wisdom for your throw.

I just wanted to say that friends like yourself make going through the ordeal of cancer treatment much more tolerable:) :) :) . LOVE is a great healer. I hope that KAREN does well!!!!!!
:)

I'll do some hunting! What a wonderful friend she has in you!

What a nice thing to do. I wish I had a good quote for you.

You are a GREAT friend/ Just being there for her and the support you give I bet makes her spirts high during this tough time :D

Oh Denise! What a wonderful, thoughtful gift. Karen will cherish it forever. Let me see if I can find Mickey65. She has some of the most inspiring, loving words to pass along to others. :)

I've been keeping Karen in my prayers. I will continue to do so. {{{{Hugs}}}} :)

I wish I could help. You are a good friend Denise. :)

I found these two sayings that seem just right for you.

Friends are like quilts...lives pieced together, stitched with smiles, colored with memories and bonded by love.

Quilts are like friends...they're a great source of comfort.

I found them on a website where a woman is making a friendship quilt.

What a dear friend you are!!

I found this one for you too from my collection of poems. What a great thing you are doing!

Little bits of fabric sewn into a quilt
Form a warm and loving blanket
from which memories are built.
And when you seek peace and comfort
in the quiet of the night.
It will keep you warm and snug
until the morning's light.

Hard to top those from Sal and Valerie, Denise. Those are wonderful. I don't have any nor know where to look. I can offer my continued prayers and best wishes for Karen, wishing her all my best. So much breast cancer, so insidious it is. :( Another friend of mine at work just was diagnosed and had surgery last week.

Karen has a treasure in you, Denise. :sunny:
