Well, we're trying to throw together a quick fall trip. DS wants to see the holiday decorations, and more important, wants to be able to enjoy the delicious gingerbread men I told him about after I came back last December from a trip with my BF40 (best friend for 40 years!) Anyhoo, I searched the boards and only saw the link about the castle.

Does anyone know when other decs will go up? I know HM is going to be done already. No biggie for me. Will Nov. 16 be the big kickoff day for holiday season? That's about a week later than last year.

Any help appreciated. Right now, looks like we'll be there from Nov. 12-17.
Thanks!

Yes, Nov. 16 is the official beginning of the Holiday season at DLR this year. You can expect all the holiday decorations to be up and the Christmas Fantasy Parade and Believe fireworks will begin that day.

Yep, I was afraid of that...means it will be a zoo that day and Saturday, too. Well, I'm gonna have to do some thinking on this...

Thanks for your help!

Nov. 16th is our last day at DL and I'm going to be one of those animals in that zoo. :rotfl2:

Gingerbread men? Will those be available in early Oct.? I love yummy gingerbread cookies! Where are they sold??

We are there from the 14th and the 19th...here we come tigers and lions...oh my woooohooo come join us AllJackedUp!

Well, when my friend and I were there last year (I think it was right about the week of Dec. 10 or so), we went to celebrate 40 Years of Friendship (yes, we were cribmates in the nursery....:lmao: ), we went on the Holiday Tour and for a treat during the parade, they took us to get cocoa and gingerbread men cookies first. Now, these things were HUGE! and THICK! Like almost half an inch thick and chewy...oh man...so I was telling my DS who absolutely lives for Christmas (as it's the only time we make them at home, keeps them "special" that way). Well, he's like an elephant, never forgets anything so he's all worked up about "but will the gingerbread be ready by then?"

You can get them at Blue Ribbon Bakery or we got them at the little refreshment place back by the Princess Faire place. But I don't know for sure if you can buy them there or they just had them there for the tours. But BRB for sure, because we ate them during the fireworks, too!

Wow, they sound fabulous! Thanks for the scoop, I'll be looking for them at Blue Ribbon Bakery! :thumbsup2

They should be out the same day Holiday starts, so Nov 16th. The have them at BRB every day and also at the Bakery just inside DCA every day as well. They may also have them back at the candy shop by Pooh, I have seen people eating them back there and I'm not sure if they walked over there with them or bought them there.

Don't they start putting stuff up like right after Halloween and then it gets more and more after that? Maybe I am wrong but it seems like it literally transformed to where on Halloween it was Pumpkins and Halloween Decs and then literally overnight there started to be Christmas decs and by the end of the week the tree was up etc. I could be wrong but I KNOW that last year I was there on veteran's day weekend and the Tree was up etc. I know that ALL the stuff is not up and going till later in the month and everything doesn't usually start till after thanksgiving right? But there is at least some stuff right away in Nov right? For someone who may be there in early Nov?

They have chosen to extend Halloween and postpone Xmas this year. You will probably see Halloween linger for a few days and then a couple of things go up here and there for Xmas but the bulk of the decor including the tree will not be up until the 16th this year. Of course the whole park does not get decorated overnight so you will see a few things here and there before the 16th.

The tree, Christmas decorations and Santa were out by Veteran's Day last year. In fact, they were filming the DL portion of "WDW Christmas" while we were there.

Yeah. They filmed the Christmas day parade on that Saturday. We stayed FAR away from DL that day LOL. We choose to do CA instead because of the craziness but everything was up. It's no big deal cuz we are going in Dec anyway but I was just surprised that they moved it back and it just seemed like in my recollections that it was literally halloween one day and christmas the next. I know when we were in Disneyworld we were there ON Halloween and then stayed till Nov 5th and it seemed like they started putting up Christmas immediately the next day. Anyway it's no big deal but I just remembered them starting to put stuff up right away after Halloween.

Yep, I remember reading it was right at Veteran's Day (which I think was Nov. 10 or 11 last year) when the decorations went up and everything started. Initially, we were going to go last of September but hubby couldn't get vacation off until November. So, it looks like that will be it and we got our rezzies at CCI so that' s cool. Now, the great debate over driving vs. flying begins...we're really on a budget (which is why we bought the APs in the first place, hoping to get 2-3 trips out of it). Weather can get iffy through the mountains in November but it probably won't be too bad.

I can't wait...we haven't been since April...wanna see the subs! And Pirate Lair! And eat gingerbread boys and blue cotton candy...ride SM IN THE DARK again (with no funky music, thank you very much) and IJ. The only real bummer seems that our favorite breakfast haunt, the Riverbelle Terrace, is going to be closed. I am glad Fantasmic will be going (I think every night) so we can get that over early in the week and gear up for the crowds for the fireworks. Woo Hoo!:yay:

Hope everyone who's going to be there will have a great time...if you see a gal wearing a Johnny Depp denim shirt...well, be sure and say hi!

Yeah we are AP's too and I can tell you we sure wouldn't be going as much as we are if it weren't for that but hey that's the beauty of those babies right? Makes those spontaneous trips great :)

Last year we went in June of 06 then again for Veteran's day then for 1 day using the block out pass for dd's birthday on Dec 29th. WOW that was a crazy day but so worth it. Her birthday is New Year's eve and we did the Happiest Birthdays on Earth and the Holiday tour. It was SO much fun and we got those gingerbread men you speak of and she even got a happy birthday from the big man himself (Santa) that sure mad her day. And the family who was the head of the parade gave each of my girls one of their balloons which made their day as well. It was just a magical day!! We ended up seeing the Rose Parade in Pasadena later that week as well and it was SO much fun.

Then this year we just got back from a week this past July and we are going again for a weekend in October for our first Mickey's Halloween treat. We were going to drive but found cheap tickets in to LAX so we are splurging and flying (haven't done that in the last 3 trips so it will be nice to give hubby a break from driving!!!) AND we surprised our selves with an impromptu trip for Dec and our FINALLY going down to see Candlelight Processional in Dec!!! AND we are going to fly then too!!!! I am SOOOO excited!

I can't wait. And the bestest part of all is we get to go AGAIN in February for a week. THAT trip WAS planned LOL. We are going to visit family in San Diego and going to the zoo and Seaworld which we haven't been to since 04 and Dh has NEVER been with us (last time we went he was in Iraq) and then we are spending the remainder of the week at Disney! So bonus!!!

And then our last trip of 08 is we are finally getting back to Disneyworld in November of 08 to see it at Christmas. We are going the week before Thanksgiving but I have been told most of the Christmas stuff should be up and running by then. We went to Mickey's Not So Scary Hallowen and the Food and Wine Festival in 05 so we are Very excited.

Gotta love those Annual passes!!

Like you most of our trips are budget and we usually drive too. These 2 flights were a fluke and we lucked into them. We will be driving again in February and staying with family and they are pass holders to the zoo so we are getting in free and on and on. And we only get back to the "world" every 3 or 4 years cuz that is a huge undertaking that we have to save up for but my mom has a timeshare so that really saves us.

But we are HUGE disney fans and it is my passion. :)

Looks like we will miss you as we will be there in Oct and Dec but have a GREAT trip!
