you are right AceAdventureBecca I know of three people who got 24 hours bans this morning in a matter of 20 minutes for things I have seen countless times on vmk. Seems like not only are they taking alot of our favorite short cuts like gr, idk , gg and many others but the few words they are still allowing they will ban you for if you get caught saying them.

i said that for vmk's bday(which technically is today since one day is 23 hours 56 minutes and 16 seconds) they will ban everyone... well from what's i've seen people are getting banned randomly in guest rooms

Just to inject a thought here...I beleive the banning that are happening have nothing to do with things done today in VMK but with things done in the past.

VMK might be checking the chat logs....and alot are being banned for things they have done in the past.

As you and my brother Scooterjake pointed out, vmk has started banning for what I feel are wrong reasons. And how do I know? My vmk girl and I were on maybe 15 minutes. She was asking me how I made out at the doctors this morning, I am having surgery soon. I mentioned something about the meds they gave me and POOF we were both gone. Sad. Shortly after that another friend told someone he looked "hat" and another 24 hr ban. So ppl God forbid dont mention the word HAT no matter how bad you want to and dont care about another fellow vmk'er. Its constant fear whenever you open your mouth to speak. So from now on, I walk around like night of the living dead, arms extended, saying " I must play pirates I must play pirates".

Mal i think you have something because i was kinda a bad boy when VMK started and in my band it said something about your past bands have not changed your actions.

Could you give an example of a "silly reason" that some one got banned. So we can all learn. Thanks!

Just thinking out loud here, but it may be that by removing words they are able to produce a report that highlights players using those newly banned words. They could then further narrow the search and check actual content. I think it possible that their concern with the words is not the words themselves but the context they can be used in (like high).

The rash of bannings could be related to the dictionary changes in that it allows them to scan the user list for use of these words (like an exception list). Armed with this new data they may be "cleaning house". Thus from a user perspective ppl didnt do anything wrong since they used allowed words, but from VMK perspective they used words VMK decided they did not want used...

Trying to figure out VMK just gives me a headach... Think I'll stop now..

Hmm... you really think they would actually do this? I for one would hope so, I mean might as well use those chat logs they have. I have always believed that, that is how they ban anyway. We hear a lot of people say "I wasn't doing anything, and I was banned" The rest of the story is most likely that there were a few instances along the way where that player either said something inappropriate or did something inappropriate and may or may not have received a warning. VMK is always watching though. Let's also not forget that summer break time has already started for some kids and soon they will all be home which will equal a greater number of players everyday, most of them young. I fully expect much stricter enforcement of vmk values in the next couple of months and for that I say

I think that alot of people have the misconception that when VMK takes you out of the game and bans you that it was something you did right befor that happened. I don't think that bans are that immediate unless a report has been made on that character.

I really do think they are reveiwing the cat logs and I hope they continue to review them and that they enforce the DISNEY family values that should have been enforced from day one.

I know it feels harsh but even some of the kids that are being banned need to be for giving out way too much personal info.

I think in the case of most bannings a series of bannings should occur befor a permanent ban is instituted with the exception of some serious issues that need a permanent ban from the beginning.

A ban serves as a serious warning to change your behavior and I hope that those banned will heed that warning.

Then again we all know VMK does ban sometimes for no good reason or cause.

Yes, if you were banned for a good enough (or bad enough) reason, you won't be able to become a CL. If you get banned as a CL, you will lose your status.

After reading this board, and after being absent from vmk for three-four days, I fear logging back in...Gosh I hope I don't get banned for dictionary dancing in the past!
