Holy Crap!!! You can fly there Feb vacation week for $39 each way if you wanted a short mid week trip!!!!!!!!

Isn't life grand Kim!!? I hope they make a go of this. I have liked flying out of Worcester....so much easier for me to get to. And since I used to go 'parking' there when I was in college, it's a trip down memory lane for me!!!

Anyone ever flown Allegiant? I used to fly out of Worcester for business and it was always the puddle jumper to New York to catch a bigger plane and didn't care for it. I would love to fly out of there for my Jan trip. It is a lot closer then my alternative airports.

I thought I would play around with the dates to see what is available. I entered Feb 4-11, 2006 from Portsmouth, they do not fly out of Portsmouth on Saturdays, I entered the same from Worcestor, they do not fly out of Worcestor on Saturdays. Also each time I put in dates it came up as only a package with hotel stay included and no way to delete it to get the flight only price. Not sure if this happens from every destination or not.

IT's a great price, but very limited. If you can be flexible, you'll do well.
I did some quick searching and it appears they only fly 3-4 days a week, probably just one flight (I didn't do a thorough search)
and for those interested in Pres week, the one way fare is $209.

I was thinkig about MLK weekend, but we could have to fly out Thursday (they don't fly on Friday) and back on Sunday. That doesn't make suense for us.

Good luck

From their website:

Beginning Dec. 22, the new flights will operate four times weekly, with service Monday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday. From Jan. 2 though Feb. 9, 2006, flights will operate twice weekly on Thursday and Sunday, resuming four-day-a-week service Feb. 10. Flights will depart Worcester at 11:10 a.m. arriving in Orlando at 2 p.m. Flights leaving Orlando will depart at 7:40 a.m. arriving at Worcester at 10:35 a.m. (all flight times are local.) Allegiant will utilize 130-seat, MD-87 jet aircraft on the route.

Yesterday, right after the website posted the announcement about flying out of Worcester I was playing with dates for February vacation. I could have gotten $39 each way flying down on Monday and back on Friday. The total was $472 for 5 people. I called my husband about it and he was a bit hesitant to plan (and pay for) another trip so soon after our October trip. Stupidly, I didn't book then, figuring we could discuss it more when he got home from work. By then the prices had increased significantly. This morning the same trip was $1772. I am still kicking myself for not just booking it then and working out the details later.

Thank you- Transportation Board!!!!! :cool1: I have never heard of Allegiant airlines.... but WOW! I live about 40 mins from Bradley airport- and about 1 1/4 hours from Worcester- it's worth the extra drive for the price difference!   Got the $39 each way fare- we're so thrilled! Was going to go SWA- their lowest fare was $79 each way, and we thought that was ok-until an hour ago! :rotfl:

   When ya going?

I live about 5 minutes away! My brother actually lives on airport hill...he could walk there quicker than I could drive! I have to say he is not as thrilled with the idea of the big planes coming over his house...can't say I blame him!

See, now that would impress the kids, all those big noisy planes over the house... :rotfl: we're going at end of January- this special is great- it means more money to have fun with! pirate:

IF you can get decent airfare with a scheduled airline I'd skip this deal. Charter airlines aren't doing very well. TransMeridian is closing up shop. USA3000 is cancelling a number of flights.

Charter airlines can raise fares, even for customers that have already paid. Your choice is to pay up or get a refund. A few people have had this experience. They can also cancel your flight and they only owe you a refund. They can change your flight times, add a stop or even an indirect connection and as long you get to your destination the same day you're not even entitled to a refund.

Good point...but since they are just starting up and are only booking December through March I think anyone who books for trips in the near future should be just fine. Worth a shot!

ARRRRGH!
Would you believe I was online the night before they announced the deal, wondering whether it was going to happen in time for Feb vacation? We are driving anyway, but DS needs to fly--not sure she would go for leaving Sanford at 7:40 Am Sun morning anyway...
Congrats to my fellow Worcesterites who managed to get good fares-- I'll wave to you as you fly right over my house!!

I think it's worth a shot too... I've been reading anything I can on this airline, and can't find anything to indicate serious trouble in the near future...

just wanted to let you know this airline lands in sanford, just outside orlando. it doesn't land at mco.
