Woohoo! Saving money and taking my family along for the ride!

For Christmas this year, I was going to take my mom, stepdad and sister (mentally disabled and LOVES Florida) to the beach. I had found some great vacation rentals and planned on spending about $600 for all of us, including DD to go in October.

Well, I had no idea that the law school here does not follow the rest of the university and we don't get a fall break. So I have had to scrub the trip.

So I had the idea of paying their room and having them go with us to Disney the week before Christmas They are SO excited! Plus, I found some vacation rentals for the price I was going to pay for DD and I to get a place for the two of us on-site at a non-disney hotel. So I am going to spend about $550 on the 3 or 4 bedroom house. And since I am spending what I had already budgeted on the room for DD and I, we can give my family the extra money towards their tickets since they pay for three adults for everything She is going to be so excited!

So I saved money by finding houses and not going to the beach this fall, but I get to help them pay for a really nice vacation that they wouldn't have been able to afford Merry Christmas!

That is wonderful.It will be the best Christmas present ever.
we will be going to Disney September 6-12 and we will be taking family with us,my DM, DSD,2 D sister and my DBIL.my youngest sister will be turning 11 while we are there.if we did not ask them to go and provide the place to stay they would not have been able to go.it just makes you feel so good to be able to do this.

Sounds like you ended up getting a great deal. I had seen your posts at the "House" mentioning planning a Disney trip. We're going at the end of August for a couple of days--I can't wait!

Yes, I am finally trying to get everything together. I'm in school straight through December 12th so I have had to adjust plans But I promised Jeanne Disney this year and we are going to come in right under the wire

Have fun in August and I can't wait to hear the details!
