Ok so soo excited just booked a 2 bedroom villa at SSR for 23 rd September for 15 nights, free DDP and 21 night ticket we decided we would also do a few days at Universal before going to SSR as our boys are at a better age, to cut cost down we decided to stay at international drive the 1 st night and maybe look at HRH for another few then do 2 nights downtown Disney or try and get another 2 nights at SSR complecated:rotfl: but will save us around a £1000...if we didn't want to do Universal then we would have just stayed at SSR the whole time!! But I thought it would be a waste of money if we wasn't using the DDP or our room for 4 days.......anybody else do it this way? Also can I use my 21 day ticket early if we stay at DTD before going to SSR? I think I read it somewhere but the lady on the phone said we cant as the tickets are attached to our room???:confused3 don't know what to do if we can't use them we would have to go to SSR earlier then planned

the tickets are linked to the Free DDP so you wont be able to get them early sadly.you can use the extra days after your stay no problem

forgot to say tht your tickets are attached to ur key.
why dont you do universal first we did 5 nights RPR then moved to disney. It may be cheaper to rent points.

OP - I would seriously sit down and work out what you want to do, when you want to do it and THEN start booking things.

Universal is great; we love it - BUT all that moving around is going to be a pain in the butt. You're going to have to check out of one hotel at 10am and not have anywhere to go with your luggage until 4pm. You're going to wind up spending more time packing and unpacking than enjoying your holidays. Split stays are great but I'd look at doing ONE hotel move per week you're out there, otherwise it's going to get really old really fast...

Yes, staying somewhere other than Disney would save money. International Drive has a LOT of good "budget" hotels and also some lovely upmarket ones that would give you a number of options.

If this is for 2012, you're looking WAY too far out if you're going to do a DIY holiday. We booked 7 months out this year and even that is quite early.

I'm totally game for hotel hopping, and have done it several times myself. I just wouldn't do it if I were the OP (first time in Orlando, trying to see a lot in the time she's there, trying to fit plans around Disney, and taking several children along with me!).

Hotel hopping (and indeed city hopping) is great; but you don't get to really "relax" in the same way as if you know you're there for several nights. If you're only doing 1-2 nights, by the time you've figured it all out, it's time to leave again...;)

Hi I'm not sure where I put I'm a first time visitor as I've been over 20xs to Disney and universal ... We wanted to book this far out as it works better for us with hubby being in the RAF and booking his allotted time! This way if he has a tour coming up they know in advance that he has a holiday! I've thought long and hard for the past month about what I want, and it's to spend time at universal then finish with 2. Wks at Disney resort the fact is I don't want to spend more then 3 days at universal and so we decided to then go to DtD and book a hotel for 2 nights before going to SSR as we could save money that way the hotel we are looking at is only 15. Mins from SSR and they said we could heck in at 10 and leave our luggage whilst we go to the parks( so wenwont have a day with all our luggage being dragged with us)

You can request that they be separated

Hi I've read on here that peole have been able to go to guest services and be able to use their tickets 3 days earlier then their package start date? This is the only reason I've booked a 21 night ticket, if this is not the case I will call to the morning and add 3 days to my SSR booking and only do 3 nights at universal.. If I can separate them how do I go about doing it will it effect my free DDP? Thanks

Thought u were booking Okw:confused3Sounds great anyway. let the planning begin:banana:

We was going to go with Okw but after looking at picture after picture and reviews I worried we might get a building with no lift! And my mum uses a ECV due to needing a hip replacement, I kept driving myself insane with all the chopping and changing that I thought I need to book something and so booked SSR and paid a decent deposit today.... Can't wait to plan my fv thing to do:banana:

Hi Tinkerpea,
If you phone Disney they will tell you that you cannot pick your tickets up early but we spoke to GS at the park and were told that we will be able to pick tickets up three days early no problem. They will always tell you no but it appears it has been done hundreds of times. We are going next October arriving earlier then package and intend to pick tickets up. They even sent us an e-mail saying it would be no problem.
