:banana::banana: Awesome deal - way to go!:woohoo::woohoo:

Excellent deal! I love Alamo, can usually get great deals through them. We had an 8 passenger van for 17 days for $480 last year......that was at minimum $200 cheaper than any other company!

We have a minivan from Dollar for Feb 10 - 19 with a pick up at MCO and drop off at Cape Canaveral for $366 all in. I had initially booked the same vehicle for $548 but kept checking as mousesavers suggested and got a city special rate. Given other companies were a lot higher this seems pretty good. I am always convinced I am getting ripped off on rental cars so who knows. It does pay to keep checking, even with the same company. Prices change regularly.

I agree, Bob. I had booked with Alamo last week and felt good to get it for about $220 for our stay...a week later I saved $40 more.

See you there! ;-)

Excellent, thanks. Just (re)booked and got the corolla also. Saved $60 and upgraded by two car classes.

Those are great rates, my problem is that we are picking up in Myrtle Beach and dropping in Orlando, the rates are crazy. Alamo say they have no inventory for our dates. april 13-23.

It must be either the code or coupon. It says the same thing for my dates March 13 - 25 when I try using them but when I try without there's no problem... except for the outrageous prices!! :lmao:

Bob. Can I ask what code you used. we're there March 10-20 and so far all I can find is $644.00 all included for a minivan. We need pick up and drop off at the airport.

Did you try Budget BCD X474200 and coupon code MUGZ029 ($30 off) ?? Just checked for you $472 taxes/fees incl. And the coupon comes off after return so $442

@rainbow mist - thanks for posting this, I just saved myself $200 on our mini van rental. Budget quoted me $405.00 +taxes/fees.

Just tried your codes for our dates and this is the first time I've ever gotten this message:

Our apologies...

Alamo is completely sold out of vehicles at:

Orlando Intl Arpt from 02/22/2011 to 03/5/2011

Sold out

These dates aren't good for getting a deal anywhere.
Best so far I can do is in the $500 range for a midsize. Might get a last minute deal if they don't black out the dates.

I have successfully used the above link to book Budget rental cars when visiting WDW. The first time my daughter and I went for 1 week. She wasn't 25 yet and we were going to have to pay dearly for her to be able to drive any rental car. Someone on these boards told me about UScarHire. It worked out beautifully and didn't cost us an arm and a leg. We even got a free upgrade to a full size (Hyundai Sonata). Last year my husband and I ordered a 4 door intermediate and got an HHR (the free upgrades were gone by the time we landed at 1:30pm)
The price includes ALL INSURANCES, taxes, more than 1 driver, unlimited miles. If you go with the gold plan you also don't have to bring the car back with a full tank of gas. Free upgrades depend on whether they are available.
You can go to the site and plug in your dates and preferences and they will give you a quote. The quote is in pounds but if you scroll down there is a currency converter.
When I plugged in Feb. 22-Mar. 5 I got a quote of $415.00 Can. for silver and 475.00 Can. for gold.

Thanks! :thumbsup2 Will have to look into this.

Just booked with uscarhire: a full size with gold is about $275 less than what I had booked. ( My original booking amt was $570 plus liability insurance and gas = $770ish )
Thanks, MaryAnn !!

Rainbow mist thank you so much! Worked perfect so went from 644.00 to 472.00! Thanks!

Great! So glad it helped :thumbsup2
PS: Don't forget with the coupon it knocks it down to $442 when you return (coupon is applied then)

I don't physically need the "coupon"? Just the code?

Not according to mousesavers, no, it's an electronic coupon. I know when I checked out it said "you may need to produce a coupon or ID" or something, but AFAIK, this one doesn't actually require it.

Here's the link to mousesavers.

Good luck!

Oh, sorry mtmbyck, you were talking to Rainbowmist...I'll leave the link in case it's useful to someone else.

I've been having good results via www.costcotravel.com - for Feb 11-16 I had a full size for $269 all-in at Alamo. Costco always includes 2 drivers, important for us, as Alamo charges $9.99/day/extra driver.

But I just found out a few minutes ago we'll have an extra traveler, so we're up to 6 people now. :confused3 Research shows a minivan is now cheaper than 2 smaller cars (don't forget to estimate parking fees as required). This is different than a few months ago, when 2 cars were cheaper than a minivan.

Alamo prices have really risen in the past few days!

So, now I have a minivan at Avis for the same period, $443.37 all-in. To get the absolute best price I had to pre-pay with my credit card, and if I cancel they ding me for $10 USD. But I'm not worried about $10 USD at all.

I had read on these boards that sometimes you're allowed to choose your own car from a row, and that people have chosen minivans when only paying for full size cars. I didn't want to take that risk, but I thought about it.
