HI! I really want to get my kids a nice wooden swing set! I've been looking around everywhere and I need some opinions!

I looked at places like walmart, target, toysrus, etc. Those swing sets look really nice in pictures but when I went to see them personally I really wasnt happy. The ones I saw on display at the stores seemed cheaply made and smaller. They also have an age range on them (for kids ages 3-10) Does anyone have a wooden swing set from one of the stores mentioned above? If so, are u happy with it?

I have also been looking at lawn/garden places in my area. One place I love is Green Acres. There swing sets are amazing! The prices are outrages but the swing sets there look like they are ment to last!

My kids are 3 & 7. I want a swing set that will last and one that even I can go on! The swing sets at Green Acres, I can go on! But like i said...the prices are like night and day from the prices at toysrus and places like that. Should I spend the extra money or settle with a cheaper more reasonably priced swing set? Thanks

We spent $500 on a wooden one from ToysRUs, and a few years later spent $3500 on a Rainbow (7 years ago). It's played on daily, and is so sturdy. All of the kids use it.

Our toys r us one only lasted a couple years. The wood bowed and it creaked so loudly everytime the kids played on it, I thought for sure it was going to break in half.

We bought a Rainbow 2 1/2 years ago and the kids LOVED that thing. DH and I could swing with the kids . Two weeks ago a microburst came through (80 mph winds) and ripped it right out of the ground and over the hill, broke it into about 5 pieces. The kids are heartbroken and can't wait to get a new one.

 Knowing how well-installed ours is, with all the bracing and leveling, I bet that was one heck of a microburst!!

Sam's Club has a really nice one we're buying for our son. It's only $998 and it has four levels, rock climbing wall, slide, plus the swing arm. It looks really sturdy and I believe people on here said it was made by Rainbow.

We had a microburst here a few years back. We only lost a huge oak, but many in town lost their homes! :scared1:

I would go ahead and pay to get a good one. We went with a local company that makes industrial (think park playgrounds). We paid about $2k for it.

The kids love it!! We have a tire swing on it and that is the biggest hit. I typically have 6 to 10 kids in my yard playing on it. We've had it 2 years now and it looks great.

My neighbors have one from Toy R Us or Wal-mart (somewhere like that). It is in terrible shape and honestly needs to be taken down since it is leaning and looks like it might fall over. I have told my kids not to play on it.

We bought a more expensive one, and it is still played on 10 years later!

Go to the Family leisure store. It offers the thing you wanted to purchase for your kids. They have a wooden swing set that is capable to your kids and they make a guarantee for the process. I've been buying in this store and I could say that I am satisfied to their products.

Yes!! That one looks amazing! We thought about getting that one, but then my mom wanted to buy it as a gift and we ended up going with one from Walmart as it was considerably less expensive. The walmart set is great, but it is not strong enough for adults.

We are also looking for a swingset for my ds birthday (4). I don't want to spend >$1000, and really wanted to go less than that, but I think after much reviewing I think we are going for the one at Sam's Club.

Menards had a nice one on sale for $700 recently; the display was nice, and while it was AS nice as the one at Sam's Club, for $300 less it was comparable. Then I saw that it was a "build it yourself" and while my husband has the skill, and the tools, I realize he lacks the patience involved in having to measure, cut, and drill the wood.

Keeping an eye on this thread though to see if someone happens to mention a quality swingset <$1000.

My friend bought a really great one at a yard sale. The sellers even took it apart and delivered it. Keep an eye out for people that are moving, you might end up with one for a bargain price.

We got a 'kit' from Home Depot , or perhaps Lowes, and built it ourselves. Correction...DH and his brother built it ;) We've had it 9 years now, and even moved it across the world, it is still going strong. I don't remember how much it was... it was expensive, but WAY less than Rainbow. DH modified it a bit to add an extra swing.... so it has a rock wall, a wavy slide, two swings, a glider and a trapeze bar.

My kids are now 10,12,15, and they dont' play on it much. But the minute ANY kids come over, they are ALL all over it...even the teenagers!

We had one from Toys'R'Us and it didn't hold up at all. Now we have one from Creative Playthings & are very happy with it.
