Woo Hoo! Just Saved $45 on My Alamo Rental for October!

I reserved a midsize a couple of months ago w/a Sam's Club code & coupon for an est. total of $210. That was the absolute best deal I could find among all the rental companies.

I've checked back off and on but couldn't get a better rate. I went into Alamo just now, and they had an internet rate special that (according to the ad) would've given us a slightly better deal if we'd dropped down to a compact. I went through the resv. process "just to see" and ended up with a midsize for even LESS than the compact! My new rental on a midsize is $165 (est. total), so I saved myself $45!!!

The Rate Code is QV, and it's good through the end of the year.

If you have the entertainment book there are several Coupons in there for National. I used a $20.00 off Coupon and used the product rate code of WEBK (free one car class upgrade) and have a full size car for 7 days for $132.00!! I believe you can still get the 2003 Entertainment book (real cheap now) if you don't have one already.

Excellent rate, what code did you use? I have been using DC and have not done that well.

The Code I used is WEBK that along with the coupon and Entertainment contract ID gave me the $132.00 rate for a Full size car. I just tried a new ressie with the same codes and it no longer gives the discount. I made this ressie in March so that may have something to do with it. I will try it a few more times because sometimes that is what it takes and will post if it works. Sorry but I just have to brag about the rate I got whenever I can. I do wish I could help people get the same rate though.

Great Rate! I also went into Alamo this evening and using the Disney Visa code got a rate of $111.72 @ week for a 4 door compact. I'm renting for 9 days so my total base is $154.38 w/50.95 in fees for a total of $205.33. The base averages out to about $17 @ day, which I'm thrilled with.
My previous reservation was with Dollar for a total of $239.00.

WEBK comes up with my code also, I did not enter it, it is just there. It is odd how it sometimes gives the discount and other times it does not. Happens a lot. Right now I have a full size, all taxes and fees, for 8 days for 167.31 and if I drop it to a intermediate ( and do the EA gamble), same length of time and all taxes and fees will cost me 148.(and change), so, I guess that is not too bad.

Are the rates everyone is quoting the base rate r the final rate after taxes and charges? I have a base rate at Alamo 8 days , buick century for 164.90, but with taxes, it finals out at 214.87. Is this good or should I do more shopping! Thanks for the info

NadineNurese there are probably other savings to be had off of your quote but here is a good start. Go to the following link

When you get there click on the alamo free day online coupon. It will take to a coupon and another link to the alamo website. Click on that link and type your particulars for your trip. When you get down to the codes change the BY to QV and leave the other codes alone. It will give you your quotes. It takes the free day off and your final quote with all taxes for the full-size will go down from $214 to $190. A little bit of savings but certainly a good place to start. Be sure to print out the coupon too. Anyway hope this helps.

What is the "QV" code for? I used it, it saves me about $20.00 (every penny helps). It does give me a midsize as opposed to a compact though.

Just wondering though, do I need some sort of membership to use this code? I was using one that was available to everyone through Mousesavers.

No...anyone can use it.

I have it myself for next months trip.
(I also noticed that if I go to the Alamo site now and enter the same date and time info....that the minivan is not available at that time anymore....??...Too many people using it and they've blocked it????)

If I put the exact same dates but leave out the QV code,the van is available (at a much higher cost of course).

I am sure not all the vans are gone, just those set aside at the QV rate. They tend to limit the quantity of vehicles available for specials.

I just wanted to remind everyone to look at mousesavers too. I just got a code off their (good for anyone). Well it took me down nearly $65.00 (that's $40.00 more than the QV code). Ironically it was the code I first used. I think they continually change their rates.
