I swear, my husband has all the luck in getting our reservations - he always breezes through the hard to get ones that I'm stressed about (guess he's now officially the family's official vacation booker). Anyway, we scored a one bedroom for Spring Break at Hilton Head!!! This is our first time to Hilton Head and I'm soooooo excited (particularly since I've been reading all of these awesome HH trip reports lately). 2012 will be a non-park year for us, though, so I'm a little sad about that, but I know we are going to have a rocking time at the beach! Anyone else going to be spending Spring Break at HH? Any suggestions for "must dos" for a HH newbie? :goodvibes

We were just there in June-our first non-park trip, too! :goodvibes
It's wonderful. I would suggest that you ask for a marsh view room. The buildings all looked nice, but there are a few buildings around the pool where the balconys are right over the pool. I don't think I'd like that for our family, but some may.

There is a harbor walk right next to the resort with restaurants and shops. The teens seemed to all meet up after dinner and spend the evening walking around. All in all, a nice relaxing vacation and everyone agreed we would go back.

Congratulations! It was because I couldn't get DS's family into HHI for last spring break that we bought HHI points!:goodvibes

Sounds great, we grabbed 2 BCV studios yesterday for Easter week as well. :thumbsup2

That's so great! You might want to check as to when the Heritage PGA golf classic is in relation to when you're going. We went at that time in 2011, and although we almost always get a 1 BR, we went with a studio that time. Boy, did I miss my one BR! Be sure to give Shadow a scratch on the head. If you don't see her, mention it to B'leu Crabbe. He was so nice-she wasn't scheduled to come visit, but after I asked, he brought her over that afternoon and found me. She's such a sweetie! Our "must dos" involve nature and walking on the beach, yours may vary. And I love to visit Harbourtown and poke around in the little shops.

We took our first trip to HHI this spring and loved it! We didn't even leave the "resort". Well, we went to the beach house, but never really toured the rest of the island. The kiddos and DH kept themselves completely entertained by everything at the resort. We did a dolphin tour, kayak trip and some of the activities (shark tooth necklace, making slime, Goofy bingo, etc) that the resort offered. It was SO different than a WDW trip. We looked at the weekly schedule and picked ONE activity to do. If we wanted to do more, then we did, but we never felt like we were guided by a "schedule". If we felt like renting a video, we'd meander down to the store, refill our mugs and then saunter back to the room for a movie. If we felt like going swimming, we had to decide between the pool, the beach house or the ocean (which was too cold for me, but the kids would swim in anything:laughing:). We really enjoyed riding our bikes up and down the beach. The kids liked to check the tidepools for starfish and the dead jellyfish were a big hit too.

Have fun!! I am jealous....we can't go back until spring break 2013:sad1:.

(Sorry the pictures are so big! I can't get them to shrink!)

Congratulations! It is so great when you plans work out, isn't it?

Thanks for all of the well wishes and recommendations, everyone (and kristenrice your girls are so cute!!)! We are very excited and I know it is going to be a blast! :goodvibes

We'll be there! :thumbsup2 Although HHI is our home resort, we haven't been in several years and looking forward to going "home". We went to Myrtle Beach this summer in a friend's timeshare and the whole time I was thinking how much nicer HHI is. That did it--came home and booked our trip for April vacation. Although our kids are older now, (one in college, one in grad school), I work in a school so will go on their break schedule. I am so psyched about it. Have fun and enjoy your first visit.
