Wonder's Panama Canal Repo 2011 - AND WE'RE NOT BRINGING IT BACK!

Cassie told me about this thread and I am so glad she did. DH (Tom) and I (Leisha) are wanting to go on this cruise. :dance3: We should have no weddings or graduations that year so we are treating ourselves to an empty nesters trip. Jan-Mar is good for us and since we will be traveling without kids it works out well. It will be so nice getting to know people before the cruise.

I think we have broken our record for how long we started chatting about our cruise....if I remember it was 361 days.....wow

Lol......well we hope they drop Aruba and Acapulco....how about this for a suggestion

when we get to the Pacific, the Capt hangs a left and we cross the equator before we head up the Mexican coast

Anyone for a Crossing the Line Ceremony???????

(showing my former career as a Naval Officer)

And Grapefruit... I remember it disappeared from Topsiders towards the end...

Well Bruce, you know us and a party...:banana::banana:

Hey guys :wave2:

I've wanted to go on a PC Repo ever since DCL did that first one but it hasn't worked out yet  so I am going to make sure I am on THIS one!! :woohoo:

Looking forward to all the planning :cool1:
Welcome aboard!

Welcome aboard! Um.....I hate to ask, but what's the jumping animal in your sig? Rabbit with a hat?

The most noticeable thing we ran out of was lemons... they started serving drinks with limes (but DID save the lemons for the lobster on lobster night...:thumbsup2) (my ice tea had lime, my lobster had lemon... :sad2:)

We took on more food and fuel in Acapulco...

When are you going to be there in Oct? Bendy's planning on a 40th bday party for herself they are there mid Oct.. I'd have to check dates...

Ohhhhh and you are NOT going to want to get off the ship... LA was such a sad port, except that most of us moved the party over to Disneyland... :rotfl:

Lemons? Ok, phew, you had me worried there for a second...I thought maybe they ran out of chocolate croissants or chicken tenders :scared::lmao:

Yes, Bendy canceled yet another cruise with me  But again, she is going to WDW and there are a few of us from the cruise who were hoping to meet up with her again :thumbsup2 Hopefully her plans allow it :goodvibes

We will be there from the 15th till November 1st.

If everything works out, we are hoping to do a few days at WDW before the repo and then a few days at DL after the cruise :woohoo:

And they ran out of pineapple, which is what my kids wanted to eat all the time. Then they had to be satisfied with the other delicious fruit. :goodvibes

Wow, my hubby wouldn't be too happy about that. Did you get more after the Acapulco stop?

Glad you found us Leisha :thumbsup2

Thanks :goodvibes

It was just the last day or so... I think fruit was a tough one for them to restock... We did survive though...

It's not as bad as the first TA... they ran out of pancake mix and tried to make Mickey Waffles by using cake mix...

AND on the return they ran out of Mickey bars and they had the Wonder bring some out so they could have them the day before...

Long story. There was a group that traveled together last year that were dubbed the pancake sisters and the bunny is wearing a pancake. I know you will be shocked to hear there was some drinking involved. :lmao: Thanks for the welcome. I have decided that I like planning trips a couple years in advance. Part of the fun is planning.

Ran out of Mickey bars :scared1: What were they thinking. I hope they really stock up for this trip.

We didn't have many problems with running out of stuff on EB but we had the added port of Cartagena, so the longest we went without port was 3 days (one of which was canal and they could bring stuff on there if needed)

On the funny side, they were trying to unload stuff with us, all of the drinks, after sailaway, were served in the Mexican Riviera cups for no additional charge (sailaway it was like $3 extra and wasn't even for our cruise!)

No time to read any posts right now, just wanted to drop a quick message: My TA has already started a waitlist for the WB PC repo, so anybody considering it might want to see if your TA is waitlisting too. Just to be on the safe side! :goodvibes

Are you using the same TA as the PC cruise?

Ooooh, that couldn't have been good :scared: :lmao:

Does anyone have feedback on how easy or hard it was to book it directly through DCL? Not sure if I want to chance leaving it in someone else's hands :confused3

Hi guys. Just checking in here. DW found out about DCL going through the Canal again and wants to go.

We were on the Aug 2008 Repo back to FL and had a great time.

I see a few people from our cruise this October have checked in as well - Hi guys.

I have a question though on this cruise, if the new ship is due out in the first quarter 2011, and not knowing when the Wonder is up for Dry Dock again, could this possibly hit over Easter somehow in 2011? I know Easter isn't until April 24th, but what if the new ship comes at the end of March and the Wonder goes to Dry Dock for 2-3 weeks at that time?

Hate to see the prices if that happens. :scared1:

Hoping for a late Jan or early Feb sailing, but will make whatever dates work if possible.

An interesting thought a friend on another thread was sharing with me, does
DCL want to do "magic" to the terminal since it will be a permanent port and is that why there is a Jan 1 date for lease but the won't sail until terminal is done. If that's the case, a March or April sail could be likely.

Maybe a dry dock, 5 day "kinks" cruise (make sure no problems, double dip CC and Bahamas) then repo?

So they won't be sharing the terminal with anyone else?:confused3
I hope it is earlier in the year instead of later....one of those I guess we will know when we know.
I can see a dry dock, I can also see them getting her out here before spring break to sail the 7 day Riviera cruise. I would think that people would be more willing to take all their kids on that vs taking them out of school for a week. But then again spring break is different weeks for different places. Ours falls on the week before, where my nephews is the week after, colleges are anytime in March and April.

I would hope they'd sail it at least once before going on a Repo. Look at the issues the Magic had last fall after its Dry Dock.

And if this does straddle Easter, you will see a LOT of families on it. They would only have to take one week off since most will have the week before or after off anyways.

Hi Becky.

I think you may see a lot of schools opt for before Easter in 2011. If they go after, the kids won't be back in school until May 2nd. Maybe they'll do the week before and the Monday after. But, schools to crazy things, so who knows.

Our DS is always out the last Thursday in May, so if they go the week after in 2011, they'll only have 4 weeks left when they get back (unless they go to June 2nd).

All the speculation and planning will be fun though.

Cass some got through ok... alot did travel agents... I got mine through a cancellation months later and paid through the proverbial nose... (but it was SO worth it...)

Just be prepared to get up early that day and spend the whole day online if you do it your self... some double booked which sent the tier pricing upwards really fast... :sad2: (one with a TA and one without just in case...)

There were openings after the 90 day mark... they trickled... but people booked thinking they could afford it and then backed out...

I would hope they'd sail it at least once before going on a Repo. Look at the issues the Magic had last fall after its Dry Dock.

I still think they're going to do it with mostly adults... you get a quieter repo and it still sells out.
