Wonders of Life Pavillion

Is it open now??

There was a lot of discussion on several threads a few months ago about whether "Wonders of Life" and its attractions, "Cranium Command", "Making of Me" and "Body Wars" were gone forever or just "resting" until needed ("Closed Seasonally").

Back then, the official WDW website had the most CONFUSING listing that said:
* Cranium Command: Open Seasonally [April 1- April 31, 2006]
* The Making of Me: Open Seasonally [April 1- April 31, 2006]

That led many (most) readers to believe that it meant that these attractions would be OPEN from (in this case) [April 1- April 31, 2006].

The contrary was true.
It actually meant that these attractions would "remain CLOSED" (in this case) [April 1- April 31, 2006].

But it was confusing BIG-TIME (and caused a lot of discussion between the posters as to its meaning).

WELL...
The Disney folks have "fixed" this confusing listing.

I copied the following (month-by-month) from the WDW Calendar Epcot site:

So, it looks like these attractions will NEVER re-open considering that they are not open at all during the Summer... not even around or on July 4th, one of THE busiest times at WDW... or over the BUSY Christmas holidays either.

Sad to say that, as I really loved these attractions, but at least the listings are no longer ambiguous.
I just wonder WHY they bother to specifically list them AT ALL??

Specifically to Body Wars, the rumor is that it is no longer even "in the building" as the ride system was supposedly shipped to another non-US Disney park for use as a "Star Tours" attraction at that park.

BTW, "Making of Me" (the WoL film starring Martin Short) was created by Glenn Gordon Caron.

http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0139111/

Mr. Caron was the creator/producer in the 1980's of the phenomenal ABC comedy "Moonlighting" (starring Cybill Shepherd & Bruce Willis) and Mr. Caron now has again scored high with the NBC smash-hit drama "Medium" (starring Patricia Arquette).
Mr. Caron is a master of filming "natural human comedy" scenes (the "family scenes" in Medium are VERY good) and likewise, "Making of Me" was a small masterpiece.

If they are never going to re-open the attraction, I hope Disney releases the film for sale as a DVD.

I agree. The film was FANTASTIC. I would love to own it. :thumbsup2

If they're not going to re-open the pavilion, why not just say so? :teacher:

It IS a mystery.

It COULD be that they like to have a "NEW ATTRACTION" in the wings before they "fomally" close an existing one.

They did this with Timekeeper.
It was on the "open seasonally" list... but virtually NEVER open.
Then, they annouced a new "Monsters, Inc." attraction was going in that space and at THAT point Timekeeper was going to be "officially closed".

Ahhh, you may be onto something! :thumbsup2

i wish they'd move cranium command someplace else and continue it as an attraction. it's a gem we miss mightily

Crainum Command was a great show and it should find a home someplace.

We were lucky enough to enjoy it one last time when were there at Christmas this last year. The pavillion was literally empty. :sad2: But I forced my teenage daughter to watch "The Making of Me" one more time. And my youngest was old enough to ride Body Wars for the first time. I took photos of the kids w/ the x-ray machines.

:offtopic: Now I'm going to have to explain how Body Wars "disappeared" to a 6 year old - when she's still asking when she's going to see Fud Wrapper again!

I hope that whatever the new thing that they put in is, it's not Pixar. All of the new attractions have been Pixar, and I'd like to see something fresh that belongs in Future World. I'll scream if I see Buzz Lightyear as part of FW.

Plans are for the Wonders of Life to be open for 5 weeks this year - beginning Thanksgiving through the end of the year. :yay:

I have so many guests tell me how much they miss Wonders. Hope many of you will be down to enjoy it during the holidays.

Best wishes.

Wow! How exciting! Can't wait to see what is to come. Does anyone have 'inside scoop' on what might be coming???? :yay:

Woo Hoo! We'll be there. My kids will love this.

You said that the "plans are...". Do you know if this is pretty firm?

I really liked the Wonders of Life and would love to go through it again. In fact, I was debating whether to go to Epcot or not this trip, and this would make up my mind for me.

Thanks!

One of the more radical rumors going around the forums a littel while back was that WoL and UoE would both be closed and demolished to make a new large attraction, but that seems kinda unlikely evan as a rumor. If i remember right UoE got a refurb recently.
I do miss the WoL pavillion i think the last time i was in there was in 98.

I really miss that pavillion. Hate seeing that big DNA strand and not being able to go in.

Can't say as I miss Timekeeper, though.

Any comfirmation of this from any other sources. This would be wonderful, but I don't want to get my hopes up....

While this is welcome news if true, I am skeptical and decline to believe it without verification from other sources. I haven't seen anything yet from other Disney news sources.
