WONDERous adventures on the Panama Canal - 4/23/17

Can I still get in on the Fat Quarter Exchange? This is our 4th DCL cruise, but the first time getting involved in these kinds of activities! Can't wait!

Kelly, I will add you to the FQ Exchange. Right now, with you, we have 15 signed up and confirmed.

The "rules" if you want to call them that are:

"This is a fat quarter exchange for anyone who is interested in the swap. Please bring a fat quarter for each person in attendance. As we get closer to sailing, you will be updated with how many to bring. Theme: Ocean/Beach. Best if done with the same type of fabric, such as BATIK so you can make a memory keepsake. We will get together at the open restaurant on the first SEA day. We will hopefully have lunch together, but it is not necessary to stay for lunch. I will need your room number and FQ's to return your swap to you. Having done this many times on other ships, it's a great way to forge long lasting friendships that have a common bond -- quilting and cruising! "

Deborah decided that the theme for your fabric should be ocean/beach and the fabric should be a batik.

The first sea day we are meeting at noon to have lunch and swap the FQ's. It will be in the open sit down restaurant, we are guessing Tritons. If you do not want to stay for lunch, then you need to drop your FQ's off at Deborah O'Keefe's SR # 7050 the day/night before. She will drop your FQ's off sometime after the swap.

If you decide after reading this that you do not want to participate, please let me know so that I can take your name off the list. I am not the one running the FQ Exchange, but any questions you have, feel free to ask me.

PS I sent you a PM with the information.

There haven't been any May 4th celebrations aboard the Wonder when I have been on, or that I have heard of. It isn't a Star Wars cruise, and May 4th isn't a recognized date, apart from some fans.

Hello, Maybe you just looked in the wrong places, It is hard to believe that on a ship that big there are not many groups celebrating the event.. I would imagine that many of the celebrations are either Private or semi formal events. I was told once on a cruise that one could not make it down the hall from one celebration to the other. All I can say is that on the 4th I will make sure I am always packing a Deck of cards, a loaf of Rye Bread and a few Star Wars DVDs

Not even when we had the nerdiest SW fan Adult Activities Director on the planet aboard the Wonder. It's just not a "thing" on PC cruises.

I'm reading Darren will be or cruise director. He is new to us.Anyone sailed with him that can tell us what to expect?

I think we've sailed with twice Darren before. I think on our transatlantic in 2013. As I think about it, I really only recall Darren and Clayton as cruise directors. Darren's good as I recall. Not as get-involved as Clayton perhaps but we liked him.

Where did you read he's with us?

I've seen that too. Maybe in the FB group

Yes, in the "other group". It was from someone who just returned from a cruise on the Wonder.

Ah. Gotcha. There's a thread that lists who's on each boat. The Wonder has him on it on 1/8/17. How long do they normally do their rotations for?

Ahoy there! :sail: It's been awhile so just wanted to mention again (for anyone new and not on the fb group) the 2" dangling DIS-green plastic Mickey head for lanyards. The sign-up will close at the end of March so there is still a few more weeks for newcomers. Please PM with your [real] name if you would like one for your lanyard. This way I can identify you at the M&G where you will pick it up. If you've commented on the fb-group post, you don't have to PM here. Thanks everyone!

:thanks:

Does anyone else's countdown clock feel like it is stuck? It seems it is never going to drop below 60 days! Oh well, guess that means there is still time to lose those last 5 pounds.
