Wondering what people think of the new RPH

Not sure if we want to go back to HRH or try the new RPH. Would appreciate any input from my DIS Forum Friends.

Thanks.

I was only there for 1 night in August but thought it was a beautiful hotel. The tropical decor really appeals to me. The lobby and grounds are full of splendid flowering plants. There's a glassed in orchid garden and fountain in the lobby that was so peaceful and pretty, good photo ops too! The rooms are tastefully decorated, comfortable beds, and large windows. Only drawback was the size. Not much room for suitcases, every inch of space around the edges was full. A family of 4 would be cramped staying for more then a few days(where to put all those souvenirs?). Didn't eat there but sis enjoyed a fish sandwich she had at lunch. As with all 3 Loew's at USF, check your bill carefully. We were double charged for a purchase at one of the parks. Last stay at HRH same thing happened with a charge at Sunset Grille. Sure wish they'd figure out this glitch as I like everything else about their hotels. Hope this mini-review helps.

Thanks Kate.

We still aren't sure which hotel we're staying at. We do know it will be either HRH again (which we enjoyed) or RPH. A lot will depend on the prices but I want to get all the info I can about the RPH as I've seen some neg. reviews on the boards. Thanks for taking the time to post the mini review. Every bit of input will help in making our decision.

Just back and it is a very beautiful hotel- the biggest problem in my book, is the food or lack of decent food. Bad selection at the hotel. I wouldnt stay there again without a car, thats for sure.

I liked it, but it wasn't as good as PBH.

Hey CPM, where are you? :)

Here! Geez can a girl take a break?

I liked it a lot! Not as good as PBH, but I prefer it over HRH. Biggest difference is the rooms are smaller & the bedding isn't as good. Pool is great! Honestly you can't go wrong with any of them. If the savings is substantial go for the best deal.
There are lots of reviews on the trip reports board.

I thought it was great. I went on July 5 (only 2 weeks after it opened) and enjoyed it a lot. The room was great and you can see IOA right across the street. The only downside is the food selection isnt too good. The pool is great and the biggest in Central Florida. It's also a lot less money than the HRH and PBH. It's not as good as PBH, but nothings as good as that hotel:D

I stayed there five nights recently. I think the public spaces and the amenities are quite successful. It really is a lovely hotel. You feel special just being there.

Of course, after PBH the rooms will feel small (they are). OTOH, for most people visiting Universal Orlando, the room is just a place to crash after a 16 hour day -- like on a cruise!

I'm surpised at the negative comment by wheatenwalker about the food. I found the food to be excellent, although as several people have noted it's quite expensive by Orlando standards. Perhaps the poster meant that there is little choice of price levels at the restaurants, which is quite true. You either have a pricey meal or none at all.

I should note, however, that the $4 kids buffet takes a bit of the sting out of the high-priced adult menu.

We've just returned from a four-night stay at the Royal Pacific. This is a beautiful hotel, with lovely public areas and landscaping. I particularly enjoyed looking at the orchid garden in the lobby. The overall atmosphere was very relaxing. A rather lengthy check-in, lack of dining options, and the self-parking fee are my only negative criticisms.

The staff were all extremely friendly and helpful, especially the ladies in the concierge lounge. We had the Fan Club rate for club level ($139/night, tax not included).

I thought the room and amenities were on par with the Hardrock, which is where we stayed last year.

We only ate in the restaurant once--used room service a couple of times and ate in the parks (Mythos and Confiscos Grille) or got take-out from off property. Although expensive, I thought the food good. Highly recommend the chocolate souffle.

We will definitely stay here again.

I thought the food at the restaurants was very good but a bit steep. But like Kelly said, the kids meals are a deal, plus the Grade *A* also took a bite out of the bill at Jakes.

Thanks to all who posted.

We appreciate all your views and experiences as it will help us make a decision. I'm waiting to see what the HRH's discounted rates are but it they are still to high I'm going to book the RPH based on what I've read here. Sounds like it's a nice hotel also.
