Looking into a few places I've never eaten at before, and I stumbled across Whispering Canyon. I checked out the menu, and the food choices sound delicious. But I'm wondering about the atmosphere, since we'd have 2 shy kids in our party. I've heard that it can be very entertaining, but I want to make sure that the kids wouldn't be put on the spot or singled out if they didn't want to be.

Any info would be really appreciated.

I think they are pretty good at knowing who wants to join in and who doesn't. It is a great place to eat.

The food at WC is pretty good BBQ type fare. The pulled pork is very good, the ribs are OK - they always come a little cold - the smashed potatoes are excellent. It's a lot of fun. I don't think you have to worry about your kids being pressured into participating. The staff is intuitive and can discern who's shy and not. Go for it, you'll have a great time, especially if you've never been there before.

Thanks to both of you for your replies! It's good to know that the kids wouldn't be put on the spot. Sounds like a great place to try. The skillet dinners sound good. :p

DH and I usually go here for breakfast. They have a great all-you-can-eat skillet buffet that they bring to your table. I have never seen any kids pressured into participating. Usually they just make an announcement that they are having horse races (or something else) and whoever wants to join can go up.

It is a fun place! Have a great time! :flower:

We went in June and my then 2 1/2 year old DS, is not really shy, but was just more a little overwhelmed at first, our server was really great with him, he gave him like 20 pens (which made him look at me, like "I'm not allowed to have pens!") He slowly drew him out and he ended up loving it. Of course I am sure that it also helped that his big sis is not shy at all. I think you would have a great time!

WCC was our favorite place on this trip!!!! I have a very shy 3yo and a very stiff BIL. I had wondered the same thing before we went. Our waiter was wonderful!! He was very fun, but didn't push anyone that wasn't playing along. My kids loved the pony stick races, even though I had to walk around with my little shy one, it was great!! Food was the best meal we ate. I highly recommend it!!

Our family always loved WC. and we had not been back in yrs. This past summer trip DD 15 and DS 14 had the time of their life.

I loved the food as well as the kids. they both got shakes, DH & I split skillet dinner. Kids had chicken and burgers. Both loved it.

as previously stated, your child will not be coerced into doing anything. the staff is so great. They know exactly how far to push you.

Go for it! very entertaining and relaxing place.

Plus you will also fall in love with WL gorgeous gorgeous resort

We ate there on Saturday night, and our server joked around with us, but he wasn't over the top. In fact, he did a good job of getting my DD2 out of a bad mood!

WCC was one of the highlights of our entire 10 day trip. Our server was hysterical. I would say the servers are very good with the kids and really make fun of themselves and they pick on a few willing adults. My kids are very shy but my wife and I played along with our server and it was hilarious. My girls were rolling out of their seats and kept asking all week "can we go back?"

Keep in mind that just like everything else at Disney, there is no guarantee you will get a great cast member. It is always a hit or miss. The table next to us had a different server who did not do much more than take the order and bring the dinner...

We were there last sunday. It was an absolute wonderful experience. Bobby is insane! My daughter loved every moment of it and wants to go back again. The CMs knew who to talk to and who to leave alone. The food was great and as it says on the menu "If you came for a nice quiet meal, you in the wrong place!"

This is an "adult sippie cup".

The CM spilt this guys drink so he came back with a cup/lid/large straw and roll of tape. He taped the lid down then taped the cup TO THE TABLE and fixed the straw so that it was at mouth level. My daughter LOVED IT!

Just as the photo was about to be snapped, another CM knocked my daughter's shoes off and said EWW STINKY FEET! Then stacked them on her butt. After the picture, several other CM ran over and screams US TOO US TOO WE WANT IN THE PHOTO.

I never enjoyed a meal so much in my life. If you get a chance to go - make sure you do!

We had to go a 2nd time while there in October...Bobby is a truly great waiter and I would ask for him!!! The staff is really intuitive to your and your childrens vibe and don't push things over the top if not wanted so you will be fine with a shy guy. Food was excellent!!!

Hahahaha - That is the same waiter we got. "Bobby the kid." I have a simliar picture with him. He was awesome. :rotfl2:

I can't wait to go in Feb. This place looks like a real hoot!!! :rotfl2:

We will be staying at the WL in February and we are going to try WCC. It sound s like my kids will have a great time.

:earboy2: :earboy2: Just wanted to chime in on the Whispering Canyon. We were there over the Thanksgiving holidays and also had Bobby (or BJ as we knew him) as our waiter. My wife and I have been here a couple of times before by ourselves and really enjoyed the atmosphere and food. This time we were a party of seven and everyone agreed this was the highlight of our trip!!!! Just reliving our experience through everyones pictures here. We also had a couple of people in our party that is a little shy, but Bobby really created such a crazy atmosphere that everyone came out of their shell. I really like the picture about the taped up cup. The table next to us had the same thing happen to them and we thought that was just crazy out of this world. Everyone in our group agreed that this will have to be an everytime dinner whenever we visit WDW. Although it will be hard to beat this meal!!!
If you get a chance, try and ask for Bobby as your waiter. Hope he is going to stay there forever!!!!! Thanks BJ :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Hey, thanks again, everyone! All of the replies are great. This really does sound like a lot of fun. You're all very persuasive!! :flower:
