Hi all! I am sure somewhere on the boards this may have been answered already but I've looked and looked to no avail.
When does the new Kadani Village open? I would like to stay at AKV in late June '09 and I think I can book it 11 months out(this will be our 1st stay with points). That said, when I called member services just to ask, they said there is no official word yet on the dates. I think I would like to book 5 or so days at concierge level at Jambo but I thought maybe I could book a few nights at Kadani just to check it out.
I love all the info here and TIA for any info regarding Kadani Village:)

The scuttlebutt is that Kidani will open in May of 2009. But there has been nothing official in that regard.

If the falling economy continues, we might see the construction projects get rescheduled.

We just bought AKV Kidani on May 21st and our guide told us that they were going to begin taking reservations for Kidani sometime in August.

Here's my question: Can I still book AKV Jambo at the 11 month mark if I don't want to wait until August? Anyone........:confused3

I've been interested in that question myself. I'm very sure that the answer is yes, you can book at Jambo. What I don't know is when you can note your request to stay at Kidani.

My guide told me no to that question when I posed it to him yesterday. But my gut tells me that he wasn't 100 % sure.

If you have available points for the date that you want to book, then yes, you can book Jambo house at 11 months. So, let's say you have Kidani points can be used after May x, 2009 and let's say you want to travel to AKV in June '09. Well in July at the 11 month mark, you can book AKV and they will give you a reservation at Jambo House.

Once they start taking reservations for Kidani, you can then try to switch your reservation if you want and there is room available or you can do nothing and keep your reservation at Jambo House.

My understanding is that you can't book anywhere with YOUR points until the unit that you are deeded to is completed and permitted for occupancy. You don't have usable points until then. That's why they gave you developer points for SSR. The reason that you are restricted to SSR is that in the past the flood of developer points had a negative affect on other owners being able to book at the own resorts.

I know this. My question is can you book at AKV Jambo at 11 months with my AKV Kidani points rather than wait until they start booking the Kidani House. I plan on going the end of May '09, which is when I was told Kidani would be finished. We are using our developers SSR points for Dec. '08.

A day or 2 ago it occurred to me that with the Kidani and Jambo owners both trying to book at Jambo, Jambo could get booked up quickly (if, as I was thinking, it does indeed work that way).

But if you can't book (as in "don't even call us for home resort ressies until your deeded unit is available") that changes things. That's much different than not being able to stay at your home resort until your unit is available.

I would think that Kidani owners would get first shot at Kidani ressies (since the 11-month window won't be available 11 months out), but I haven't seen anything definitive that it will work that way.

I thought AKV points were AKV points and once your unit was 'built and ready for occupancy' you could book any AKV room - that you just requested which area you wanted to be in???

You are correct. A AKV owner who has usable points is allowed to book at either building. Each building is a confirmed booking category and will be noted on your reservation. It doesn't matter which building you are deeded to.

That's what I thought - I'm hoping for several 2 bedrooms next December in Kidani. I want to do a big extended family blow out next year and AKV is my home resort.

Hopefully the construction schedule won't change due to the economy. In the past if the economy slowed so did the building of new units. From Disney's point of view, it doesn't make sense to build buildings that doesn't have the member base to support them. That's why they took several years to build out SSR

This 'kinda' backs up what my guide told me.
