This will be the first trip that I will need to rent a car for. We have always either drove down to FL or used the Mears shuttle and Disney transport. We plan on renting a car so we can drive around the Orlando area (we are hoping to move there in about a year or so), we also want to check out Celebration.
Anyways -
How is hertz as a rental car service? I got a rate of $203.10 (inc tax) for the week we will be there. And through jetblue you are supposed to get a free double upgrade. which would take us from compact to special sporty.
Any other suggestions would be appreciated!

Hertz is a great car rental company. All you have to do after claiming your baggage is go down one floor and go outside. You will see a Hertz bus sitting there.

They will take you over to their lot which is a few minutes away. You will be driving away in 10 mins or less.

The upgrade is based on availability so it can happen that you won't be upgraded.

When returning the car do curbside check in with your luggage and then return the car. Saves carrying your suitcases on the shuttle.

There is a program that allows you to bypass the counter.

We have gotten Hertz through Priceline several times, and even though they are offsite, we are often done and outta there faster than with some of the onsite car companies! At its fastest, we have been on our way within 15 minutes, including the shuttle ride. The longest was about 45 minutes total on a holiday weekend. We have had good luck with getting free upgrades, so I'll send some pixie dust your way. And you'll love Celebration!

Hertz is #1 for a reason...they are the best. When I have a choice, I will always choose Hertz. The cars are newer and cleaner than any other company's, and the service superior. You have nothing to worry about.

If we end up using an off-site rental company, we always go through Hertz. The shuttles are large and clean, and we've found they have the nicest drivers (our last one was a former WDW bus driver). On a recent trip, we had reserved a Taurus-sized vehicle. Well, they were out of those, so they asked if we'd like to the a Lincoln Town Car instead for the same price. Hmm-- twist my arm! ;) It was a gorgeous new car with only 11 miles on it.
