Wondering about BLT...

I have read a couple reviews on the resort board, and there have been more than one comment about scratched & damaged furniture.
What gives?? Are people abusing the new resort?

There is also the bug issue. I know there is a thread here about mosquitos, but one of the reviews on the resort board talks about the lobby carpet being laced with bug carcasses.. Huh???

On a side note-
Why is BLT kept locked? One of my favorite things to do is explore the resorts. I can't imagine locking the Iron Spike Room.. err, uhh, Carolwood Pacific Room to other DVCers. I mean, How many people here have looked at the animals from Kidani, but weren't staying there? It would be a shame to lock that off to other Members IMO.

at least bug carcases mean they did something to kill the bugs, it should not be a long-term problem

I've always noticed a lot more flys around new lumber, so perhaps other new construction materials may also initially have bug issues?

If they do need to keep BLT "locked off" (since it is so publically visable from the MK. I do not think most EPCOT visitors know how close BC/V is) then DVC should, at least, have a weekly tour time available to all members..

Well, there is nothing much to see at BLT, unless you are staying there. There is no shopping, no dining, no interesting memorabilia rooms, just guest rooms and a pool, and the Lounge, but the Lounge is only available to those staying on points, so I guess they just don't want everyone and anyone walking around the building. And it was probably decided that with the close proximity to the MK, there might be a lot of folks wanting to just poke around.

It was posted on another web site (sorry I don't remember which one). In the near future, DVC will have tours to see a rooms on the first floor.

I forget the time of day this will be held (something like 2 or 3pm). I believe you have to contact your guide (or the DVC booths) to sign up for it and it's by reservation only.

Members can view the model at BLT daily between 2 and 4pm no appointment necessary. Non-members need to make an appointment.

We checked into BLT the first day it opened...DH, DGS 19, and myself. DGS noticed that the furniture, including the dining room table was scratched quite a bit, along with a few other pieces of furniture. I wonder if this was done by the construction crew or housekeeping, since we were, presumably, the first ones to use the room.

The rooms were so sunny you could see a lot of dust flying around which my husband felt was because of being new construction...(we were in Kidani for 2 days and a bathroom vent was clogged with dust; they've only been opened for a few months. As I was going to request it be cleaned, maintence came by with a vacuum and filters.

We really enjoyed BLT. The 1 BR was wonderful, and the location is great!
