Hi there, well I know that if your planning a trip to WDW with a baby one of your main concerns is how the wee-one will handle it...well, we had a great time, it went so smoothly I couldn't believe it. Our baby just turned 7m during our trip (mid-June). Even my husband was so shocked that it as easy as it was to take our baby. However, I do feel if he were walking age it would be much more of a challange. Basically here's a list of what I found to be helpful during our trip, perhaps it may help someone in planning:
1. Stay on property, not only for a fast return to your room for a nap, but other things such as early entry, package delievery, Enight and transportation. I used the time on the buses and boats to nurse our baby almost everytime....in the mornings we'd get up and get ready then change baby and dress him and out the door to wait for the 1st bus/boat, then feed him on the boat/bus, when we arrived we were set to go.
2. Take advantage of EE, you'll beat the heat and the lines. We did ths every morning but one...we walked into many rides: R'nR, Tower, fasttrack,HISTA, AK safari, dinosaur, water rapids,etc....then we'd hit the lesser lined rides without any to little wait. The longest line we ever waited in was for bugs life! My husband thought it wouldn't be a long 25 m wait...it was in the sun...if the sign says 25m believe it, I found all sign on time to be true...25m in the sun/heat is too long for anyone but mostly baby.
3. Use fastpasses...we used this for rides later in the morning when there was some waiting time >15-20m (I wanted to for bugs life!) For example, grab a pass for the Jungle cruise and then go do PofC while you wait.... or pick up one for the land and go see food rocks or a little snack and RR break.
4. Bring water bottles for everyone and baby...we used the brita filter bottle and really liked them...offer water every 1/2 hr to baby and feed more often. Everytime we sat on a ride with baby or a show I offered to nurse him (which was often)...I found disney to be a great place to fine tune public nursing skills...I even nursed in line...I never thought I could physically do this (20# baby).
5. Take advantage of babyswap....wonderful program..plus older children can ride twice on most rides.
6. Don't forget to restock your bag for the park each day...I did one day and almost ran out of diapers!
7. Bring a comfy stroller for a little one, disney's are for older kids....also an umbrella for your stroller...the best $8 spent for our trip...check babiesrus. People were asking me where they could buy one, and you can't there in the parks. Also, we survived with the mister fans...use it on baby, they will enjoy too.
8. Also, if you don't want to do laundry pack more than you think baby needs...I just made it only one outfit left on leaving day.
9. Don't forget baby's sunscreen and hat...the playskol brand worked well on our babies ultrasensitve skin, and it is instant coverage.
10. If your baby loves being carried, you'll need a carrier, I perfer slings, but that's what works for us. Many times that is where our baby napped.
Well, I'm running out of thoughts, also take more pics...some don't turn out as well as you'd like and you can't go back in time...that's my only regret, too little pics...I took 6 rolls! Enjoy + have fun!
