My DD16 gets to plan her HS grad trip for our family of 4, summer of 2021. She and I cruised in a porthole room on the Wonder to Alaska in 2013. She loved it and wants to do it again for her grad trip....this time with the whole family, including adult handicapped brother who is in a wheelchair.
We would like a verandah room.
I’ve been researching and I see room 7138 for 4 people but the verandah is a white wall, not plexiglass. Anyone had a room like this? Could someone seated (chair or wheelchair) see over the white wall?
We can’t afford concierge, but would like a room where DS21 could sit in his wheelchair and enjoy the verandah view. Any info/ideas greatly appreciated!

I believe, if seated, someone cannot see over the rail.

Have you checked for accessible rooms? I'll point out that rooms that are not accessible, wheelchairs cannot fit through the doors into the room.

In this situation I would either get a full plexiglass verandah, or stick with a midship deck 2 oceanview (those have the biggest windows). Both of those will offer an accessible view. There will also be ample accessible views on deck 4. The railing is plexiglass there, & it's rarely crowded.

We had a Navigator's Verandah during our Wonder Alaska cruise, & it was very nice to have, but our trip still would have been wonderful with an oceanview room.

I would get a plexiglass wall too if I could. We didn't have someone who needed accessibility on our Alaska cruise but we did have small kids and if we didn't have the clear walls they would have had to stand on chairs to see over the rail. For someone who needs to remain seated that would be the best thing to do. What month are you looking at? We went in May and it was quite chilly out there on sea days but my husband didn't mind, he just bundled up and spent hours out there.
