I've been a little worried about the food as I don't do any seafood and just an overall picky eater...I showed hubman the food thread last night and he's so excited to go now He doesn't get fish at home as the smell makes me sick so I gotta feeling he'll do 3 meals a day of fish. I may need to sit at someone else's table

I would invite you Stephanie but we love seafood too! We are such terrible cooks though that we pretty much only eat it when we go out. So we'll be eating it for breakfast, lunch and dinner too.

My mom is like you too -- hates fish and will not want to be in the room with us when we eat. The thing is that fresh seafood will not "smell" when it's cooked properly so you should be fine!

Forgot to add that I made final payment today! The cruise is totally sold out and we have a GTY room so I was not going to take any chances.

Don't forget that final payment is fast approaching. You snooze on this cruise and I think you pretty much lose!

If you are participating in the FE exchange, can you let me know how many people (adults and children) are in your traveling party? Also, I know Des is doing the WBPC, but is anyone else? Woo Hoo, what a feeling! I broke ours up into 3 pmts. Just made pmt #2 yesterday...should I pay it off now? We're GTY also. Any benefit to paying now or waiting til Nov 1?

When we went on our 4 night, on the boarding day, we were by guest services and since there was no line, we stopped and asked to add the gratuities to our account. They told us we couldn't pay them yet until the next day. I remember on the last day, there was a huge line at Guest Services the entire day and was glad I had paid them earlier.

If you still can't add them on day one, that leaves the entire sold out ship trying to pay them on day two. We decided that we'll call DCL and prepay the tips to avoid a line before we leave.

We hadn't thought that small cruise means small window to visit Guest Services. You mileage and thoughts may very.

(On the main DIS cruise board I've long stopped reading any post with either Tipping or Dress Code in the subject, as they always turn into the same arguments which I'm not trying to start here)

Great tip. If we don't do this, what would the alternative be? Leaving cash in the little envelopes? I can't remember- do we have to personally hand out the envelopes or can you leave them all in your stateroom?

This will be our 36th cruise in DEC ... and I say IN the end whatever you do will work out just fine? We've done it probably every which way. Handing cash - paying via the pursers' desk AND handing the staff envelopes with a receipt in them... and no envelopes at all. The staff will get what we set aside for them.

Now if you're adjusting the balance - then there's really just a couple options... wait in line or if you're ADDING then carry cash and hand that over in an envelope.

I for one have always preferred to hand the staff our tokens of appreciation.

That probably doesn't help - but it does flesh out the vaious angles? Plus it's the truth of my perspective on the matter!

Well... jumping on the 1900th posting was just a spat of silly nonsense. I tend to be a happy-go-lucky sort ... and I've not been aroud here too much. It's just been busy with everything else going on. We just returned from a cruise in the southern carib a few weeks ago - so I was busy chatting with folks there. Plus, we have several families in our little group there - all blood relatives. So that was a fun little side trip mixed with some good old story telling to get caught up... KWIM?

At any rate - may I offer apologies to anyone who thought my 3 or 4 non-"meet-thread" related posts were inappropriate. As I said - I meant no harm and it's all just lite hearted nonsense. Inside of me is a whimsical little kid that will NEVER GROW UP. My spouse has been with me for 27 years now and from time to time she reminds me this whimsical trait is one of my endearing qualities... IDK if that's really so ... but I am what I am!

You're too gracious... and no worries as I am well trained in apologizing seeing as I've been with my dear sweet spouse for 27+ years now! From day one she has reminded me of my missteps and cheerfully provides amusing advice on how to be a better me! So, yeah... I've been living in bliss the whole time since!

Combine that with my cooporative behavior as a constant shopping companion and willing handler of all her returns... and I do believe SHE is experiencing a degree of "bliss" too.

At any rate... who or how do I sign up for the FE list? I have a bunch of others in my group - like some 14 others (or was it 15?). However, they're mostly just my friends and not so much into posting yet it seems. Some have been on a DCL sailing and I'll have to remind them to consider posting again. And oh... now that I'm thinking about it - I need my cabin assignment to sign up... right? I guess I better contact my TA fer all 'dat?

OK... my daughter needs me to prepare breakfast now... pardon me while I slip away to whip somethin' up fer my girls.

We have always just put cash in the tip envelopes. I make sure I have everything counted out before I leave. Works out great and no need to mess with Guest Services.
