Wonder - January 21, 2011 The Cruise To Nowhere In Particular..

Does your son like basketball? My son wanted to play after football last year but we missed sign ups. I am thinking we might try it this year!! Last year his team went to playoffs and the Super bowl (they lost at the Super bowl though, only game they lost all season!) so we had football from the 1st week of August until the 2nd week of December and we were all pretty worn out, it totally slipped our mind and we missed the sign ups for basketball!

Wow, playing at the Superbowl is already an accomplishment! About basketball, yes my son loves basketball, he's been playing since he was 7. Used to play at Corona Civic Center gym (i heard they cancelled the basketball league now), we've been playing with NJB (national juniors basketball) now, last winter we played the regular team (corona-norco) but now we joined a travelling team which is also under NJB ALL-NET (inland empire div.), this is our 3rd season with all-net, we loved it, all the families are really great and fun. My son and about 7 other kids in our team has been playing in the same team for 3 seasons now so they're pretty close. I am so glad we now practice at the Corona Gym, since we're only 10 mins. away, before we used to practice close to Riley gym at Norco. Let me know if you're interested at NJB, i know the guy whose in charge of Corona-Norco Div. or you can check out the website NJBL.org.

Southwest Airlines booking window opens up this Tuesday 8/17 (generally around 8AM Phoenix time).

Just a heads up for anyone who is thinking about going to Disneyland before the cruise, the Entertainment rates are up for the Hojo for the 17th, 18th, 19th and 20th of January.

We were able to book a pirate suite for $99.00 a night what a deal! I love the entertainment rates and watch them until the dates show up.

Way Cool! Laura made me promise her the GC otherwise I'd have been all over that.

Decided. We're driving down. With the two families it'll be far cheaper to drive down all in one SUV than fly.

I will have to check that out!! Thanks. I know right now he is totally in football mode, but at least I can be prepared this year!! We got divided into teams on Friday. He is super happy with his coach (as our we!!) so here is hoping to a great season.

Hope everyone is doing well! We are still counting down our days here! At least I am!! It's been super crazy at work and January can not come fast enough!!

I know it is still super early but I had a really quick packing question!! Since it is only a two day cruise, is bringing just a carry on (duffle bag) okay? I can't imagine needing a ton of clothes. I mean its not like we are going to be at the pool or doing any excursions were we will need to change several times a day right?? I’m guessing just morning and again for dinner. I am probably over thinking this but we are going to be crazy busy leading up to the cruise and I don't want to overlook anything!!

Katherine, lots of things about this cruise are fun and mysterious! Since it's so short we have no idea what DCL is going to 'give' us on this cruise. Which show(s), which 2 restaurants we'll be assigned for dinner, which of their sea day activities will be offered on our one day, which late night event/show for adults, what will be planned for the kids clubs etc.

For those experienced DCL cruisers out there....which of these things would you like to see/have your first timers experience?

I think they should perform Disney Dreams on Sat night, there should be a "Who Wants to Be A Mouseketeer" during the day and a "Match Your Mate" at night. A Tea With Alice for the little ones and for the adult daytime, I think a food (appetizer/entre/dessert) demonstration over a napkin fold type demonstration.

Your thoughts.......

Southwest is open, but rates are still high. It's $79 one way from Sacramento and I know it can go as low as $49, so I am holding out for now. I booked the HoJo at entertainment rates for the 2nts prior, so that is all set. Now to decide if we want to do parks for 1 day or 2... $600 is alot to drop on park hoppers for a day and a half, especially since they are only open 10 - 8 during the week at that time of year. I imagine we'd walk right on to a lot of rides on a Thursday in the middle of January...

I thought the same thing. I can get $59 from Phoenix to SNA, but coming back it's $79. Definately not as good as I was hoping. It's a little disappointing, but I'm just planning to keep checking. I'm booked at the Hojos for the night prior as well and was hoping to catch an early flight, then spend some time during the day at Disneyland, but it's looking like we may just end up driving the day before and getting a park and cruise package at the Doubletree in San Pedro. Not really excited about the thought of driving in LA though.

Just book my Phoenix to SNA flight, now have to e-mail the shuttle people and finalize that reservation.

Now I just have to light a fire under my cruise-mate who is arranging for our car rental home!

I know after the Panama in '08, a couple of DISers took a taxi to the Hertz or Budget the next town over and came back to the port to pick up families, but I can't remember which one it was. That was the only way to get a one-way rental on a Sunday. Anybody researched this by any chance? We may be able to arrange for a couple of people to shar a cab.

I have been checking for availability on this cruise for almost a week now. I check at least 3-4 times per day. We are currently on the PC cruise just prior and would love to add on 2 more days, unfortunately I didn't even realize this cruise existed until a week ago.

If anyone decides to release their room/rooms, would you please PM me first so that I might be able to reserve this cruise? I was able to do this on a previous cruise by conference calling the disney rep. We are a party of 8 so we will need to rooms.

Wish me luck!

BTW, we would not be interested in veranda or concierge rooms. Budget already blown with 15 night PC cruise.;)

We are going on a cruise this October. I wonder if we can rebook this cruise on that cruise and receive the $100 obc? If the ship wasn't already sold out, I would know that we could. But with it being sold out, I don't if that would be possible.

Anyone know?

Although, I just remembered. Once I take the cruise in October, I will be a GOLD Castaway member! That means it would be $150 obc!!! Boy, I sure hope that I will be able to that. Of course the day that we sail on the October cruise is the 90 day mark for this cruise. So, maybe some folks will have dropped by then.

I don't know if this will answer your question but here is the answer Disney gives me for my clients. If you used a TA, they have to be the one to "cancel" your cruise. If you booked it directly, you can cancel the cruise.

Here is the concern if you do so. If for any reason, between the time you cancel and the agent rebooks the cabin, someone else grabs it, you are out of luck. There is not a way for the agent to get the cabin back if someone else has booked it.

That being said, this is what Disney tells me. I have had it happen where the cabin has disappeared and I have had the cabin stay put. Usually what happens is that it can take up to 15 minutes for a cabin to "reappear" in thier system.

I am not trying to be a downer and say that you will lose your cabin - I really hope you get the extra money and the cabin! Ask onboard if they can just move it over..it's Disney and magical! Anything can happen! Good luck!

Unfortunately this cruise has been sold out for quite some time. You will really want to watch right around Nov. 5 or so since the final payment for this cruise is Nov. 7. Good luck! I hope you get to join us! I will be on the PC cruise as well. You should make sure you join our meet thread!

My computer crashed and I lost all my favorites. I'm trying to find the Fish Extender lady on Ebay.. ..anyone use her? :grouphug:

Update (and to keep our thread on page one) :thumbsup2

I just ordered our fish extender! It was very easy! I just finally sat down and searched Ebay and tried to remember the name I've heard everyone speak about :banana:

Since this is a mother/daughter cruise I just know my DD12 will love doing the fish extender exchange.

We can't wait! :cool1: Gotta love Ebay! :woohoo:
