I was hoping we could start a Wonder cabin thread describing the cabin you have sailed in with all the" good the bad and the ugly". This would be a great help to newbies and those who want to book another cruise in a different stateroom. Anyone sail in a deluxe ocenview deck 2 room? What did you like? What are peoples opinions on the inside staterooms? What is your opinion to the best and worse staterooms on the Wonder?

We had a cat 9 cabin on deck 1..... we liked it there.... felt very little motion of the ship..... could easily take stairs to deck 3.... it had 2 small portholes so we could look out...... it was #1072..... I am interested in seeing what others say also..... wondering if the extra $$ is worth it for a cat 6 or 7.

I sailed July 2000, we had a cat. 6 w/ veranda. We are members of the Disney Vacation Club, so money was not an issue, we used our points for the vacation. Having the Veranda was terriffic, to sip your coffee, in the early morning watching the ship dock was great!!!. We used it quite a bit for we had a very rainy vacation. We are sailing again this July on the Wonder, with the same cat. 6 room. We are hoping for lots of sunshine this time!!

We have sailed twice, both times in CAT 10 inside deluxe staterooms. We didn't mind the no window issue at all. In fact my DW prefers them because she is prone to seasickness and felt better not being able to see the ocean rushing by.

Deck 7 (7509) for the first trip. Some occasional rumbling noises from what we believe was a service passageway behind the back wall of the cabin. Infrequent and didn't really bother us at all. Loved this location. Close to the forward elevators and very quiet for the most part.

Deck 2 (21??) for the second trip. Sorry, can't remember the exact cabin # right now. It was starboard side aft. Just forward of the aft elevators. Again, close to elevators was convenient. Seemed to be a little more hustle and bustle at this location. There was a definite audible vibration in this cabin but you could only hear it if you were standing all the way in the back of the cabin. We think it was some kind of generator or other motor because it was constant throughout the day and at sea and in port. Again, no big deal.

We would like to try a veranda suite but wouldn't pay the extra $$ for an outside deluxe without the veranda.

Of the two we preferred the Deck 7 cabin because it seemed a little quieter, less busy in the general area.

What a GREAT idea for a thread!

I am interested in ALL the wheelchair-accessible rooms, all categories. General info, plus these questions:

1. Is it easy to plug in an ECV (scooter) and still be able to plug in anything else--i.e., do I need an extension cord or a power strip?
And still be able to walk around the parked scooter? (We will have 4 adults in a category 5 room.)

2. How high are the (main) beds? The Disney rep says the beds are only 10 inches high. That's impossible, but two different reps said so. Perhaps they are telling us the height UNDER the bed, for storage of suitcases?
3. With a solid-wall veranda, is there any comfortable way to be seated and still see the view over the wall?

Thanks for starting this thread. And thanks in advance for any answers to my questions.
This cruise is my first Disney cruise and also my first handicap stateroom (although I've been on 6 other cruises with a folding wheelchair).

I too liked our room (Mermaid02 and I were cabinmates!) for all the reasons she stated. In addition, I liked the split bath A LOT! Gave us gals plenty of getting ready space! The deck 1 aspect kept us away from the hustle and bustle and it was very quiet. I plan to look into this type of room when I go back with the hubby and kids!

We had a Cat. 6 room, #6086 on the 4Wonder last September. Wonderful room with verandah. We are also DVC members and sailed on points. We really enjoyed going out on our verandah in the mornings and sitting out there as the boat was docking in Nassau and in Castaway Cay, and we also enjoyed it tremendously the day we had a full day at sea. Unfortunately we didn't go out there at night, we were too busy with all the wonderful ship board activities! Loved those deck parties! We enjoyed the cruise so much that we are sailing again this Sept. we decided to save some points this time, no verandah. But we are lucky enough to have gotten a "hidden porthole" room. Can't wait!

Cat 10 on Deck 7
inside stateroom
port side
as far forward as you can get.

We liked it so much, we're booking the exact same cabin again. We like the total darkness of the inside staterooms because our kids sleep better. Totally quiet. These cabins are at the very end of the hallway, so there is no pass-through traffic, except for the occasional crew member who needs to go through the door to the crew-only section.

The only disadvantages we found: 1.) it always felt like a long walk from the forward elevators/stairs. I would like to be very close to the stairs, because we invariably would leave something behind when we were hurrying for dinner or a show or something. 2.) the laundry rooms are on the starboard side of the ship, so it was a hike to carry laundry and to go back and check on it to insert more quarters for a second dryer run (one dryer run barely takes out the moisture!)

But it was sure nice to pay for a Cat 10 and be on Deck 7. A very convenient location overall.

We were in 6630, category 6. It was great - not too far from the elevators, nice sized room, beautiful balcony. For us, having a balcony was a lovely addition. We are not big "partiers," so we spent some nice private time on the verandah. It was great just watching the waves roll by. Our cruise (Jan) was as smooth as glass. I get seasick easily, but wasn't bothered by any motion either awake or sleeping. It was also very quiet - no noise from anywhere.

We are going again in Nov, and have a connecting cabin. I hope our "connected neighbors" are quiet! We also have our older teens staying a couple of doors down in an inside cabin. I don't think they'll spend much time in there because they will be out exploring and enjoying their time together, so a verandah isn't necessary. We will probably give them one of our KTTW's though so they can use the verandah sometimes, too.

My preference would be to always have the verandah, but I would take any cabin just to be on board again!

Hi all,

We loved our cabin! Midship was great because of easy access to the stairs. In addition, we were relatively close to the laundry room. We only used it once but had to go back and forth because the dryer needed three cycles to get everything dry.

In Jan '03 we are in 6092. Not quite midship but we saved $200+ by dropping from a Cat 5 to a Cat 6. Staterooms are identical, just a deck lower.

The best part was the verandah but I also loved the separate potty and shower.

We travelled in May of 2001 and stayed in cabin 6654. I thought we had the captai's cabin. It was huge. You will need a power strip as there is only one outlet in the cabin but there is a closet which is for storing wheelchairs / or other equipment. The verandah is one on the biggest on th boat and the bathroom had a rool in shower on one side of the sink and a accessible tub on the other side too. Lots of closet and drawer space and auto door open from inside.
You DO need a letter from your doctor explaining your disabilty in order to get an accessible room because there are some people who tend to overlook those with disabilities and try to get themselves into those rooms for the extra space. (kinda like handicapped parking at malls..... there is always a few who park there without permits.)
The bed is about a foot and a half off the ground... like a normal bed I guess and the day bed might be a bit higher.
Downside to handicapped accessible room...... only 3 beds so family of four is out of luck. Thoughthere is enough room to put in a murphy bed.... disney hasn't thought of this yet. and the t;vs are small for those who might like to watch t.v in bed and have limited eyesight.
Other than that, great experience. Waiting for elevators are a pain though too.....
Looking at anothe cruise same room in 2003

Over the course of 21 Disney cruises, we have been in many staterooms. But my all-time favorite is 5650, which is in the very butt end of the ship, as far back as you can get.
Some people do not like it because it has a solid metal verandah (as opposed to the see-through), but I like it because the verandah is larger than normal. You get some engine vibration, which is another thing I like because I sleep with a white noise machine anyway...same type of sound.
Also, 5650 is about as quiet as you can get when it comes to hallway noise. Since it is so far back and isolated, hardly anyone ever walks past your door. Also, it is right near the "secret aft staircase" leading up to Beach Blanket Buffet...very handy for beverage runs.
So far, we've only been in 5650 on the Wonder, but that's where we'll be for our May 25th Magic cruise, so I can't wait to compare.

Thanks for your helpful details. Especially about the bed height--the 10 inches must be the under-bed storage availability.

We are going to be in 7638 (category 5), 2 adults and 2 teens. We have been told that 7638 has an extra bed which pulls down from the ceiling, so that it can handle the 4th person. (The same should be true for 7138 on the other side of the ship.)

Certainly hope (and expect) this to be true. The reason I've never had a handicapped room on other cruiselines is that most wheelchair-accessible rooms don't even hold THREE people!
So glad that cruiselines are beginning to consider that someone in a wheelchair might want to travel with more than one family member. And Disney seems to be one of the leaders in this.

Thanks again. Bon voyage in 2003!

Cabin 6550 for our 2002 Wonder cruise. Category 6 verandah stateroom which sleeps 4. We loved the location and verandah and of course the split bath is a must for a family with two teenagers.

BUT there is some kind of a motor, pump or pully under the floor or in the wall of cabin 6550. It ran on and off randomly for the entire cruise. It just drove DH nuts but DD, DS and I pretty much were able to 'tune' it out.

Cabin 2024 for our 2000 Magic cruise. Category 9 ocean view which sleeps 4. Location near elevators was good and we felt very little motion. Split bath was great.

WONDER- CAT 6 #6624
Good location aft on starboard side. We liked the fact it was near the aft elevators/stairs (we found taking the stairs to be quicker). It is across the hall from a luggage storage area, no problem with noise but some congestion on the last evening as stateroom hosts were gathering up the luggage for debarkation. It was very quiet with little hall traffic and we found the 6th floor was easy to go up or down a few flights to get to anything. Easy acess to everything aft. At CC due to ship backing in, we had a scenic view of the island. Clear plexiglass veranda, nice views of activity at Port upon return. little to no movement felt but the seas were like glass that sailing. We would request this room again:)

pjkds--we have booked 7638 and 7138 for 12/27/03 Magic after seeing how large the verandahs were. We peeked while enjoying that "secret" deck at the back of aft 7. They had a full sized table and 4 chairs along with 2 deck lounge chairs. BIL uses a cane and we know he will be much more comfortable in one of these cabins.

We were on the 4/14 Wonder in 7614 with a verandah and split bath. We loved it!! Halfway down the hall from the aft elevators and close to the aft deck. Plus being at the back of deck 7 your muster station for the lifeboat drill is inside at Animator's.

BIL and sister were in 5639, an inside cabin on deck 5. They considered it adequate but would have liked a slightly larger bath.

We stayed in 6066 on our honeymoon -smack in the middle of the ship, on the side that faced Nassau and away from Castaway Cay.... LOVED it. Loved the veranda, loved the location, we were right near the elevators, but not too close.

Staying in the Roy O suite on the June 6 Wonder, I'm sure that will become my insta-favorite. :)

We had 6083 (Cat. 11, inside) on our cruise last May. We liked it so much that we tried to get the same room for our upcoming December cruise, but we're in 6085 (right next door!) instead. I loved being so close to the center of the ship--both horizontally and vertically!

I just can't justify spending extra money for a bigger cabin or a window or deck. With the money I didn't spend on a room on the ship, I've got three extra days at WDW!

I loved our room. We were two adults and had more than enough space. We'll be three adults this year, and I know we'll be just fine again.
