All good things . . . .
Well, Mickey called us at 6:15 (way too early) and we began the long and tiring process of waking the kids. We made it out of our room and back up to AP for breakfast. It was nice to have one last meal on the ship and to say goodbye to Levi and Bruno. The resturant sure looks different in the morning . . .
After breakfast, we walked to mid ships to join the queue leaving the ship. There was some type of hold up and we had to wait about 15-20 minutes before we were allowed to move down to get our bags. Never found out what the problem was.
We found a porter and our bags. In no time, we were through customs and making our way out to the Hertz shuttle. Our shuttle driver also stopped at the Carnival dock to pick up another couple.
Soon we were in to our Taurus and heading down to West Palm Beach to visit with DW's grandmother. After a quick visit, we headed back up to Orlando on Friday evening. We stayed at the same Amerisuites hotel (between the Hertz office and the airport). Since we had dinner along the Turnpike (not the best selection after being on the ship), we went in search of some desert.
We found the best little family run ice cream and coffee shop just north along 436 (road that feeds the airport). It's called Scoopa's. We met the owner while the kids had some ice cream and we had some coffee.
All to soon, we were on our way home. It was pretty disheartning to arrive in Detroit and have the temperature in the 20's. Boy did we miss the warm sunshine . . .
We had so much fun that I have booked us on the Magic for next February (western trip). We lucked out again in that the kids' mid-winter break from school is a week after presidents day.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. It was nice to re-live the cruise while writing it (especially as I look out at the snow covered front lawn).
Please let me know if you have any questions . . .
Rick
