This has been fun, reliving the cruise for this review. . . On your mark, get set, go!
Day 4 -- Sea Day
Today started as had all the others with yours truely wandering out of the cabin in search of morning coffee. After a stop at Cove Cafe, I sat out on deck 9 by the Quiet Cove adult pool to read and enjoy the morning
. After a while, I made my way back down to the cabin to see who was awake. We ordered room service for breakfast again to allow the kids time to wake up.
After breakfast, we made our way up to the Mickey pool. By this time most of the chairs had been claimed, but we found a table and four chairs on deck 10 overlooking the pool. The pool was pretty crowded, but my boys jumped right in and found some other kids to play with. DW and I sat up on 10 reading, sunning and watching the kids
.
DS5 wanted a chance to go to the autograph session, so DW and him took a break from the sun to do that. It was a pretty neat setup. The characters are seated at a long table and you get a chance to talk to them all as they pass your book along the table. Many autographs and pictures later, DW and DS5 came back up to join us. I also took a chance to take a quick dip in the Quiet Cove pool to cool off.
DW went over to Beach Blanket buffet to gather some finger foods for lunch (nobody was really hungry what with the late breakfast). After a while everyone was done with the sun, so DW took the kids to Quartermasters and I went to read my book in the shade.
After everyone emptied their arcade cards, we went looking for a ping pong table and some snacks. The crew setup some tables by the Goofy pool with things to buy and snacks. Wouldn't you know it, they had fresh pretzles. What a nice treat.
After ping pong, we split up again. DS5 wanted to meet Captain Mickey up by the Goofy pool, so he and I stayed there. DW and DS7 went to find our pictures at Shutters, do a little browsing at the stores and have some down time in the room.
DS5 and I got to see an ice carving demonstration and listen to some very good caribbean music while waiting for Mickey. It wasn't long before the main mouse himself was there
. DS5 got his autograph and a photo (plus an extra photo with me as well).
We made our way back down to the room to chill and to get ready for dinner. Tonight's dinner was in Animator's Pallet. Our table was right next to one of the monitors so we got an upclose and personal view of the show
. In case you've never been there, the butternut squash soup is to die for
!
As always, the show is a lot of fun. However I was a bit bummed that it took so long for the kids to get their desserts. They really wanted to go up to the sports deck where the club was meeting at 7:15. We didn't finish and get them up there until 7:40. Oh well. . .
We tipped our servers and our head waiter and told them we would see them for breakfast at 6:45am tomorrow
. One of the drawbacks of the early dinner seating . . .
Since both kids were in the club, DW and I had some time alone. We decided to skip Disney Dreams and instead pack up the bags. They must be outside of your stateroom by 11:00pm. Last year, we rushed like crazy to get them done and I did not want a repeat of that.
Once finished with that depressing chore, we went to Shutters to get our pictures ($200 later) wander along deck 4 for a bit. Soon it was time for the Till We Meet Again show, so we picked up DS5 (DS7 wanted to stay in the club).
The show is top notch. First the characters (including some from the shows) spreadout around the lobby on deck 3 and deck 4 for autographs and pictures. This is a great chance to see some of the other folks involved in the show. In fact DS5 wanted to meet Hadies (go figure). After a bit, they call all the characters back to the stairs outside of Triton's for a photo op. They take turns all waving to the different areas surrounding the atrium so everyone has a chance to snap pictures. Then they make their way up the stairs. A great place for pictures is deck 4 or 5.
We then went back to the room to get ready for bed (6:15 was to be an early wakeup call). One problem, DS7 did not want to leave th club yet. He stayed until just about last call (11:45).
Finally, everyone was in bed trying to get a few hours of sleep before we had to leave the ship.
Up next, departure day
