Wonder 1/14/2013 Bahamian - 5 WONDERful Nights

Thank you all!! This is great info. As you can tell, we are really rookies to all this cruising stuff. By the way Merry Christmas!! Happy Holidays!!! We are all ready here, but my son won't stop mentioning the cruise and his birthday! Lol! We are going to celebrate their birthdays on the cruise.

How is everyone getting to the port? Still looking at my options but can't decide...

I wish I could tell you, but we are local. Maybe the other ladies have more great information. :-)

We are flying into FLL and heading to Keys pre-cruise. We will have rental car then BUT will probably return car and stay close to port in Miami the night before cruise....where we will stay is still pending, I will update after I make plans and book. It's coming soon!

We are flying in the day before and staying in a hotel near the port for the night. I have not decided if we will take a taxi from the airport to the hotel and then from the hotel to the port or if we will rent a car. Renting a car means we only have to install the car seats once which would be nice, but then we have to pay for parking at the hotel and deal with returning the car. The trip is coming up fast so I need to figure this out. I'm looking forward to hearing others responses to see if anyone else has a better idea I haven't thought of yet.

We have a car rental and will be returning it the morning of the cruise, then cabbing it to the port.
We are driving in from Orlando where we are staying for marathon weekend. Is the person who mentioned they were planning that as well still on this board? I'm running the half marathon on Saturday.

Anyone have any help to offer as to attire? On the DCL website FAQ's I see info regarding 4 & 7 day cruise but not on the 5 Day cruises :/ Anyone inquired on this yet?

I received an email from DCL on 11/30 with some info about the cruise. It does state in there that there will not be an formal nights. That will help save some space in our suitcases, but I am a bit disappointed that we won't be getting the full experience :( Last time I was on the planning section of the website I noticed that the Pirate Party is listed on one of the nights but I forget which one right now. So at least we will still get that.

I've been trying to research what the weather will be like to see if we need shorts/t-shirts or if we should be planning for long pants. It looks like it should be pretty warm :) I am trying to pack in as few suitcases as possible now that we have to pay for every checked bag.

If you go to your reservation page you can look up what night the pirate party is...in the activities section I think. I can't remember what night it is either. I missed part of it last cruise because one of my children was ill. Hopefully we won't miss it this time. So excited!

Does anyone know how disembarkation goes? What time to we have to be off the boat? How long does everything usually take?

Also, anyone else notice they are offering free kids now on this sailing :/

there is a set order...starting with Platinum guests..I believe you can request an early departure if needed...everyone is usually off the ship by 9:30am

Yes, my TA called yesterday to let me know about the Kids Sail Free. I am so happy to get that discount. I am happy to have more money for fun stuff!

Hi! I'm also on this cruise. It's myself and 2 teenagers.

Thrilled about no formal night. Less vacation decisions the better for me!

I also called my TA about KSF and although I wasn't eligible for the discount, I was able to upgrade my room and get a little bit of money back.

39 days and counting...

There's a discount for kids? I'm calling them to see if they will apply it. Thank you for posting, maybe I can upgrade our cabin or do more stuff.

Emailed my TA and was able to to apply it to one of my rooms/kids! Unfortunately we have two rooms and only 1 of our three kids is booked in the rooms with 2 adults :/ something was better than nothing though! :)

I called and was able to get the price difference back..wasn't much since we already had the 25% Canadian discount but every little bit counts! More money to spend on board!
