women in your 30s or older - clothing question

Because it is a tshirt my DD wears, yes, to me, it looks like a shirt a teen would wear. I said above if someone isn't familiar with the shirt, it looks like a normal tshirt.

Okay, so if your DD has the same shirt (that was purchased years ago, BTW) what did I remove from it?

Here's another shirt I got from a junior's department. I was 32 in this photo. Nothing about this looks like a teenager to me. :confused3

I like this better! And Honey - you look young! I say shop wherever you want and flaunt it - 'cause you got it!!!

I got told again yesterday - it MADE my day! That people can't believe I am 47. That I look at least 10+ years younger! If I was as firm and perky and cute as you are I would be wearing younger looking clothes as well! Heck! I'd go out naked! LoL

I admit it - I'm totally jealous Lady!

Oh for god's sake, seriously? It is a blue, v neck tshirt that looks exactly like a tshirt my 12 year old daughter wears.

Therefore, I associate it as something a tween/teen would wear. I honestly didn't think it was that hard of a concept to grasp.

:rotfl: Thanks! I would have posted this one before, but I really had to search hard for it. I'm always the one taking the pictures, so it's rare to have one I'm actually in.

This is my first time posting on this thread, and I honestly don't care where anyone buys their clothing. Doesn't matter one iota to me.

However, since you asked... yes, in my opinion, the shirt is this picture definitely looks like it was purchased in the junior department. I would expect to see it on a teenager. The blue t-shirt is your other picture just looks like a blue t-shirt though.

Well you said she had the same shirt. Those were your words, not mine. So are you really suggesting that all blue v-neck shirts look like teenager-only clothing? Because that is how it is coming across to many of us.

I don't necessarily think that the department where it came from has to scream teenager... But, as I am prone to do... being honest.... and NO offense intended at all. That outfit in that picture does indeed scream 'teenage'... from the shirt to the leggings and the shoes... top to bottom.

I would definitely buy from the Jr. department if I saw something that worked... But, with my body/figure, it just ain't working!!!!

And, C'mon.... lets just admit it... Way to many old lady 'MOMS' clothing in the ladies/womens.

Kind of makes it hard!

I do not shop at those stores, but not because of my age.

If you look good in something, buy it. Who cares how old you are. If someone thinks you're younger than you are because of what you're wearing, what's the issue?

Now, that being said, I've always wondered if there's supposed to be a "cut off" age for shopping at Forever 21....or is it really forever?

I'm only 30 and haven't shopped there since I was in college. I really do feel those brands/styles aren't appropriate for someone older than 21ish. Maybe a pair of jeans wouldn't be bad, but I'd be mortified if I saw my outfit on a 15 year old at the mall.

I feel like LOFT, Macy's, Banana Republic and J. Crew have clothes that are much more age appropriate.

No, that is not quite what anyone is saying....
That is a fairly basic T-Shirt.
But, yes, IMHO, in this case, that T-Shirt, in combination with the outfit as a whole... I would not wear. And, would actually see on somebody who is still a teenager.

I guess what we are saying is that trying to use the T-shirt in that outfit to argue that buying clothing in the Jr.s department does not make one look like they are dressed like a teenager... Not sure that this is an effective argument.

Well, it is a Toy Story 3 Barbie costume, so it should be screaming "plastic doll from a movie". I was speaking only about the shirt. A blue shirt that can be found in misses, women's, junior's, sporting wear, etc. just because the Junior size is what fit me best, does not make it a teenager shirt.

That photo was used to show my body size. I guess you missed that part. :goodvibes

Casual Pink sweatshirt and "adult" jeans from a non teeny-bop store....you can see they are too big on me.

You look amazing and should shop wherever you want as well! If I could - oh believe me I would!

Some women are just showing their age and I think feel threatened!

Lady you look great and I love the red top. I've got 5 years on you and I would totally wear it.

We are similarly shaped, I've got a bit more "Kim Kardashian" going on, if you know what I mean.

Be comfortable. You are brave to post pics!
