People do it all the time. Maybe they aren't planning to use the $ to go to WDW (though we don't know if that part is true), but they do it all the time.

She told a reporter she and her friend (the buyer) considered it an adoption; of course, legally it isn't. Do people really not know you should at least CHECK with an attorney?

woo hoo, 30K for me!, I can now afford to stay at the polly.

OMG....I can't find the words to comment on this.....

If she's willing to sell the baby, then the baby's MUCH better off not being in her custody.

That is a horrible story! It just amazes me what some people are capable of doing.

Our office has been abuzz about this today; it is in the state where I live and near where I work.....

This is also near where I live and I saw this on the local news this morning but did not hear mention of Disney World at all.

It is appalling either way...

I wonder if the price changes with age? I've got two kids in college, and I'd go as low as $200-300. I'm gonna need fee dining....

Very sad, but how does it compare to someone who wants to give up their baby for adoption (for whatever reason) and not seek money for the child? Is the real problem here the dollar transaction, or the giving it away part? At any rate, I hope the kid's life turns out well, having had a rough start.

"Mothers" like this really make me angry. She should have her other kids removed from her custody & she should be sterilized so she can't have more kids. This isn't someone who had a lapse in judgement - she's a sociopath. Those poor kids.

Many pregnant women who do legal adoptions also have "living expenses" and such paid for. You can't legally sell a baby, but you can legally do that.

And people sell babies all the time. They do it through shady lawyers so that the legal steps are done...and the illegal ones are covered. People who might be considered too old, too sick, too gay, too whatever - they arrange this stuff through lawyers all the time.

If the baby ends up with people who will love it, I don't care. I'll save my outrage for those who actually mistreat babies.

the only thing I can think is she had no understanding how an adoption works. Maybe thought she was doing an adoption. Where Disney World came into this is the part that floors me. People adopt for money and money reasons all the time though. The media hopefully has exaggerated this.

I hope that baby ends up with a family that loves and cherishes the heck out of it. The other poor siblings. If she'd do this to her baby. What else is she capable of???

I am guessing a mental health problem may be coming into play here. We shouldn't condemn her for her life choices, but hope that the child will end up somewhere loving.
