Wolfgang Puck Cafe Questions

This upcoming trip, we're attempting to try some restaurants we've never tried before. We recently "discovered" the Wolfgang Puck Express a few trips ago and really like it, so we figured we might give the Wolfgang Puck Cafe on the West Side a chance. Two questions, though:

1) Is it any good? I did a search and there was a thread back in 2010 that was pretty much bashing the restaurant. Yes, yes, I know that I have to take opinions with a grain of salt on these boards, but has anyone been recently and have either good or bad experiences to share?

2) If I place a reservation for "Wolfgang Puck Cafe" on WDW's website, that's a reservation for the "downstairs" portion of the restaurant, correct? We definitely don't want to go to the pricier "upstairs" portion of the restaurant. I don't see an "upstairs" option on the WDW website, but I may be missing it.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

Downstairs is the "Cafe", Upstairs is the "Dining Room". That will tell you which is which.

While we think the Dining Room is okay, we are not that impressed with the Cafe.

We really enjoy WPC, and it's typically a restaurant we plan to visit on each trip. In particular, we find the Macadamia Nut chicken to be a standout dish. I haven't been very recently (in a few weeks I will have an updated review), but have found it to be consistently good for us, but I doubt we would be considered foodies...I'm rarely unhappy with a meal I don't have to cook (ok, maybe my standards are a little higher than that), but definitely have been very happy there.

The food's been pretty good but the service hasn't.

Hit the nail on the head...

while we have given up on dining for dinner at the cafe and upstairs, we do enjoy the cafe for dinner. The pizza, sandwiches, salads and sushi are wonderful and the restaurant is way less congested during the day. We had some real lackluster services at dinner, but with less of a crowd, things have been good at lunch.

We too, liked the cafe ...in fact, we had really good sushi at the bar, and pizza. Both times, when we tried the dining room, we did not enjoy it.

That service issue seems to be pretty common (or at least common enough to post on the boards multiple times). Hmmm...interesting...

Thanks for the thoughts...
