How is this restuarant?

We are bringing my parents to DW(their first time to any type of amusement park setting). I was talking with them about our dining plans (Cali. Grill, Jikos, Boma, Le Cellier, Tusker House Breakfast) and Dad asked about Wolfgang Puck...he's refering to the restaurant and not the CS. He's retired and watches lots of cooking shows on TV!!!

We were not planning on going to DTD. We were going to do 2 days each at MK and Epcot and 1 day at AK. We can always do DTD the day of arrival since we get into Florida around 11AM.

Thanks.

I have ressies for Woofgang Puck in just a few weeks. I would imagine it's good. Funny thing is I made my ressies months ago online. When I called disney re which location weeeks later they didn't know. I know I didn't make it at Woofgang Puck express but is it upstairs or downstairs?? They don't know I don't know since I am paying OOP I would like to know. I do however think it being Woofgang Puck's it will be good. Hope this helps.

There are two Wolfgang Puck's sit-down restaurants in the same building. The downstairs restaurant, the Cafe, is more casual, the upstairs one, the Dining Room, is more upscale. The Cafe is on the dining plan for one credit. The Dining Room does not accept the dining plan at all. I believe the Cafe is open for lunch, the Dining Room is dinner only.

Wolfgang Puck Express is a counter service. There is one located in the same building as the two restaurants, and a larger one located across DTD in the marketplace. You can't make a reservation for Wolfgang Puck Express, so you have a reservation for either the Cafe or the Dining Room, probably the Cafe.

I went to the Dining Room a couple of years ago. I liked it, but the most I can remember about it at this point is that my party was asked at least five times before ordering if we were on the dining plan, so I'd guess they were getting people making reservations for the Dining Room and thinking it was the Cafe, or just assuming that all the restaurants take the dining plan.

We have eatten at the wgp dining resturaunt. Food was ok. It was really LOUD. hard to carry on a conversation with out yelling. We were to asked 5 times if we were on the dining plan and which one. The witress wanted to see the card and then wanted to keep one of our cardsduring the course of the meal.???? We let her since we did not put our credit card on the rm key.

We love the WGP Express!!!! brkfst and reg menu. Yes its counter servicebut once you sit down with your drink they bring your food to you on a plate with real silverware. Now it doesn't feel like QS any longer. bbq chicken pizza is one of my favorites. for brkfst omlets and french toast too. And Lg servings. The best counter service at disney

DW and have been to Puck's dinning room a few times and love it. The food and service has always been top notch. Every time we've been there its been a little later in the evening, say 8ish, and it wasn't noisy at all. The restaurant was about half full. If I can make a few recommendations, the filet is excellent. They do it in a port wine sauce. They have gnocchi in a blue cheese sauce as an appetizer. We always get this, never had anything like it. Lastly, they have a key lime martini which was wonderful. Enjoy!

As an added bonus, if you have it, the dinning room just added the Tiw card

We ate there last minute in August (downstairs at Wolfgang Puck) and it was one of the top two meals of our trip.

We will eat there again. Loved it!

The kids got a make your own sundae for dessert - they really liked that.

I got some sort of crusted chicken - it was wonderful!

Is the TIW discount available in the Dining Room? The list says Wolfgang Puck Cafe, and the WDW web site lists the Dining Room as part of the Cafe.

We like the upstairs Dining Room, not too fond of the downstairs Cafe.

My DH and I have gone numerous times to the sit down (downstairs) restaurant. It's very bright and whimsical and depending on where you are sitting (and if it's a nice day), you may actually see the new balloon that tethers over DTD (Flights of Wonder - I believe).

Of all the times we went, we only had one poor service experience. All times we have gone, the food has been excellent. In my opinion, they also have one of the best sushi bars on property. I've found I like the sushi there better than Cali Grill.

I would definitely suggest giving it a try. I highly suggest the Macadamia Nut Crusted Breast of Chicken. Here is a link to the dinner menu http://allears.net/menu/menu_wpc.htm.

We've dined in the Dining Room (upstairs) ... it's much quieter and the food and service were wonderful. At last check they don't take any discounts or the dining plan in the dining room.

The Cafe downstairs takes the dining plan and also offers AP discounts. Their sushi is amazing!

As mentioned previously, the TiW card restaurants has recently been expanded to include Wolf Gang Puck Cafe. http://cookingwithmickey.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-restaurants-added-to-tables-in.html

Since the dining room is part of the cafe I’d go out on a limb and say they accept the TiW card, but since it appears to be a new addition and haven't used it there (yet) I can't verify this :thumbsup2

I would urge anyone with TiW to call and verify that the Dining Room is now accepting the discount. It is in the same building as the cafe but it is not considered the cafe - they are two distinct and very different dining experiences. And as I previously stated, the cafe has always accepted the dining plan and honored AP discounts but has never accepted TiW while the Dining Room never honored any discounts.

If the Dining Room is included that's great but I wouldn't make the assumption - I would call TiW and verify.

The Dining Room is not part of the Cafe. They are separate restaurants located in the same building.

Upstairs is great. The food and service was excellent. We took my father there and we all had great meals. A very solid choice, definately in our top 10 at Disney!

We ate at the Cafe last year for the first time and will definitely return, in fact we already have an ADR for late August. I had the ribs with the Asian slaw and Carrot Cake for dessert and both were excellent. Everyone else in our party enjoyed their meal as well.

We used to love WPC in the downstairs restaurant (we've never eaten in the upstairs dining room). Our last visit to the restaurant was a few months ago and it was disappointing.

WPC is now owned by the same company that runs Portabello Yacht Club (or whatever it's called these days) and Fulton Fish Market.

It looked to us that WPC has now been designated the Disney Dining Plan restaurant by the company that owns all three restaurants.

The WPC menu now has many fewer choices, the night we dined there the place was unbearably noisy with tons of big groups all on the DDP, the food was nothing to write home about and we won't go back. We dined there during free dining, but free dining was hard to escape last year since it ran from August to December!

Given all the nice things people are saying about the upstairs dining room, we may give that a try. We now do our best limit our dining to places that do NOT accept DDP as we find that participation in DDP has negatively affected most of the restaurants at WDW.
