If someone cannot get to the WOC FP machines first thing in the morning what is the wait like in the FP lines from say 11AM-2PM?

I know my experience is kind of old, but I'll throw it out there anyway. On Sunday June 20, I received my WoC fastpass at 10:55 AM for 9 PM red section. When I walked back past the line toward the Hollywood area of the park to find the rest of my family at around 11 AM, the end of the line was still at the restrooms across from Soarin' where I had started 40 minutes earlier.

Went today at like 11am.-11:30am line switched back on the bridge by the waterfall. Wait time was maybe 30min. Got Blue for 10:15 show.

When I called today to make some dining reservations, not for WOC, the CM told me that the FP are "ENTIRELY RANDOM" from the machines by GRR.

I don't get that. I "thought" that the tickets would be the best colors for the early show, then the next best for the early show, etc. til the late show tickets all ran out. Why wouldn't the best tickets come out first to those got up the earliest to be among the first in line? Is this all true? Has anyone actually been near the front of the line and gotten a red color?

If so, and you didn't like the fastpass you got, can you get back in line and get another one? Can you hold 2 fastpasses for the same show? What about one for the early show and another for the later show?

I know this is all new for most of us but I am trying to figure out what the best way to do WOC is.

They can't be totally random or a group of people (like a family of five) would all get different sections. Maybe they give out 100 red, then 100 blue, etc. There are CMs standing there asking if you have the tickets for everyone in your party, and checking to make sure he got you all the same color, same show.

We showed up yesterday July 11 around 5:30 in the evening and were able to get passes for the 11:15 show in the red section, no lines, no waiting.

Today, we got in line at around noon and got fps for the 10:15 show, red section. We were in line for less than 10 minutes.

There was another update that said the first ones were blue and then yellow and then red for the first show and then went in the same order for the next show. That makes more sense because why wouldn't someone first in line get the better color.

If you are going to get up extra early and get in line or pay the extra money to be in one of their hotels and get ee to the WOC fast pass machine, you should get a good color.

I am making a reservation for AG and also doing the FP, if I get a good color, I will cancel AG since they don't make you pay in advance.

my experience. last saturday at 11 am, i waited like 2 min!! tops! i think i was lucky!

That is a bummer. That makes for no GRR FP's until later!

look an update from disney blog!!

UPDATE (7/15/2010) – We’ve permanently added a third World of Color show each night through Labor Day.

blackjackdelta, I agree that is a bummer. We were counting on doing a pool afternoon and popping back and forth for GRR. Geez, that is one of the big benefits of staying at GCH, isn't it?

It seems that between the line up for all the hotels for WOC fastpasses at the GCH gate and the possible construction of the DLH pool, GCH is going to be crowded! It was confirmed too that if someone just buys something at one of the shops or wws, they can also use the gate. If we weren't staying at one of the resort hotels, I sure would buy something from the shop to get a fp for woc.

Yesterday, someone else said they were told by DLH if they do start on that pool, they will be able to use the GCH pool and as you know, people are switching their reservations over to the GCH because of the DLH construction-ugh. I thought it was already going to be tough to find a spot at the pool, can you imagine the whole DLH coming to join in the fun?One time we stayed at DLH and the pool was closed for a day but we could only go to the PP pool. Wonder why the change?

(And DH wanted to stay here for the relaxing atmosphere-lol!)

7/04 approx 2pm, got FP's for 11:15 show, blue section; there was a bit of a line, but maybe a 3 or 4 minute wait tops.

This is true during the day (as it should be - at least IMO)

But to use the GC entrance in the morning during the early entry period you must be staying at one of the onsite hotels.

Offsite or local folks are not allowed to use that entrance, receipt or not, to get the early WOC fastpass perk. So no worries there.

Last week we tried to go INto the GC from the park just to see if it appealed to us for future visits. This was in the afternoon. The CM told us we wouldn't be able to get back into the park through that gate unless we bought meals in there and brought back the receipt.
