WOC dining package questions

We will be in DL for 2 days in July. I really want to do WOC dining one night and PTN dining the other night. I have an eleven year old and really don't want to pay $60 per night 2 nights in a row for his dinner. Is the Carthay Circle WOC reserved viewing better than Ariel's Grotto? I have looked over both menus and think my little ones will prefer the menu at AG. We ate at Carthay Circle a couple of years ago and it was good but I wasn't as impressed as most people are with it. Any advice is appreciated!

Ariel's area is close to the front, Carthay is further back. So it depends on if you want a wide, but far away, view of the whole area, or a closer view, but with less of a panoramic range.

Also, Ariel shares a viewing area with WCT, while Carthay has its own area. So Ariel's will typically be more crowded - but good spots are still easy to come by if you get there early.

Have you considered the WOC dessert party ? I did it last night and it was fantastic, and SEATS. It's the only way I'll do WOC now it was that awesome. Just providing another option

I did the Carthay Circle lunch package for WOC in May 2016.

I was disappointed in the table location at Carthay Circle (outside, with the constant noise from the street below and midday heat) and in the server's refusal to allow us to move to an inside table (even though plenty were available), BUT the food was good and the viewing location was also good. The viewing location was very close to the WOC Dessert Party viewing location. And it is on a "raised" area, although it may not quite be raised enough for an 11 year old to easily see over the heads of everyone in front for a "full" (top to bottom) view. The area definitely wasn't crowded. Although, non-package people filtered into the area once WOC started.
