Ok, so I have been looking at pictures online of the view from the tables. It seems that there's a lot of obstructed views, especially with parents putting kids on their shoulders. I'm not complaining about that. I get it as some adults are rude and will block kids from seeing. My question is, if we pay for a dessert party, probably the second show, we will try for a high top. But will we be able to see more than the top of the show? Most of the photos I have seen only show the top half of the water features and absolutely none of the lake. It almost feels like we had a better view when we did the Carthay Circle Dining package. Thoughts? We have a frist timer coming and it will be her 21st birthday gift. TIA

You aren't near enough to the people standing up to have much an issue with people putting kids on their shoulders and such.

I didn't even have the best seats for WOC Dessert Party in January, but it was still a good seat. My camera didn't even capture the entire view, and my main obstruction was the light globes in front of me (but even those light up during the show to go with parts of it). I was at a low top and off-center, so a high top would definitely be even better. (Partly my fault for not checking in earlier, I suppose, and also as a solo visitor, they kinda stick you with the other solo people, so oh well. I'd still recommend it!)

The first pic here is as the show was ending and people were dispersing, so you won't even seee that many close to you during the show. And even less if you get a high top. The second is a screenshot of my video during the Avengers portion of the show, so you can still see most of it even from a low table and off center. (But if I did it again, I'd definitely try to get a high top.)

We think the view is somewhat better from the dining package viewing area (we get there early enough to be in front row of that area). I have to disagree with PP because the kids on shoulders did bother me, and we did not see the lower half of the projection screens.

It sure is nice to have a chair, though. And if friend has already turned 21, she can get alcoholic drinks.

I think I'm comparing it to a lot of my fireworks experiences, where it happens literally right in your face. Like, oop, got a good spot picked out, show is about to start, oh oops, Dad has decided little Billy or Susie has to go on his shoulders inches in front of you... Oh sigh.

So having people many feet away doing that was like... no problem. That I can handle.

Very understandable!

Thanks for the pics. My DD is a Mechanical Engineer/ Industrial design student who’s goal is to work for the companies who design this kind of stuff. She interned last year for the company who designs the fireworks shows for all the major theme parks. So Unfortunately for us, she wont be happy. She’s going to want a closer view. She’s the nerd who wants to see the rate of speed the water comes out 🙄😂🤦‍♀️ Last time we were there I camped out and got the fro t row at the rail. For $400 she will want a closer look. And also it’s her BFF’s first trip and birthday. So now i need to rethink… Thanks for the help

Which tables were you sitting? table or high top? Was there one or two levels?

Yeah, if she wants to study the mechanics up close, then Dessert Party is not for her. It's too bad she wasn't there back before they brought it back post-pandemic. They had all of the water drained for a bit and it was just pipes and mechanical things. She would have LOVED that.

We actually were there when it was empty after the “fire” or whatever they were fixing. She was fascinated!!!

So from a fellow engineer perspective (I was also obsessed with the tech behind this show, enough that I managed to go opening day and did an Imagineering interview before it opened to get some behind the scenes info) if she’s already seen the show close up consider a view from the Paradise Pier Hotel room.

The view might not appeal to the average parkgoer since the projections are a bit hard to see but you get a very clear picture of the design, layout, and whole show. You can see sections spin up and wind down and it really shows off the precise timing involved.

Low top, front row. There was only one level, with a front row and back row of tables.

We’re booked at DLH in a suite for her friends or i would definitely consider that! i may just have to suck it up like i did the last time we saw the old WOC and be ready to camp out for the rail. She has some contacts through some ASTM panels she sits on- i don’t know if she would even want to go that route. But i would like a chair and a glass of wine😂😂

We have done the dessert party and the dining package each multiple times. If she wants a close up view, the best is probably to book a dining package and then go early and get that center spot on the rail, and take ponchos in case the wind is blowing the way that soaks you on the rail. I'm short and we have done that dining package spot on the rail multiple times, as well as the dessert party.

I like the dessert party best because you have a chair and don't spend as much time staking out a spot, don't have to deal with the water itself, and it is a good overall view. If you want to be practically in it-- and it sounds like she does- that rail is great. We also would take big ziplock bags for purses etc. We have been on the rail where we only got a mist, and we have been on the rail when we have been drenched. For the dessert party, we think the view is good, but we did have one time that our view was obstructed and it was because we got put at a high top behind a high top and unfortunately people that looked like very tall linebackers at the table in front of us- that was years ago and at a time when the tables were pre-assigned which I think may have only been briefly done. I wasn't happy that time based on the money we spent-- outside of that we have always been very happy with the dessert party. Usually we are at a high top with a low table in front of us. For me, with everyone standing instead of all sitting on the ground, if I'm not on the rail, I can wind up getting a view of someone's back instead of WOC.

I think the very front rail is the virtual queue space, either Yellow or Blue (don’t know which). The dining package area is just behind that section (but up a tier), and the dessert party behind both (up another tier).

Sounds like maybe they have changed the front of the dining package area since the last time we did it? The maps I am finding online are still showing the very center area of the rail as dining package with the rail on each side of that area being yellow or blue, but they easily could have changed it.

It used to be that upper area you are talking about, but then also down to the rail in that very center section. It is good to know they may have changed that front center area because the dining package is worthless to us we can't use it to get to the rail. We tried the dining package view out of the wet zone once, but if you aren't on those steps (which are near impossible to get), then all DD and I could see was the person in front of us.

We were there week before last. The only dining package sign we saw led us to the center circle area, behind the very front section. The circle area was roped off from the stairs that led down into the front area.

It didn’t seem like the front area was divided to allow dining package in the middle of the color groups. (We saw many people crossing all along that area, trying to find a place to stand.). But I could be mistaken.

Thanks for this. Yes we are the poncho family so we are always prepared for the spray. Lots to rethink. I camped out and was exhausted.. and younger LOL
